New personal robot from Toshiba called the ApriAlpha that has face and speech recognition, a voice synthesizer, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, and runs on a fuel cell rather than batteries. It's not clear what the ApriAlpha can actually do, though it does kinda resemble one of those old Welltron 8-track cassette players.Link Discuss
I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.
