My friend Stella just turned me on to Aya Takano, another one of the young Japanese illustrators in Takashi Murakami's Kaikai Kiki artist collective. I've never been a big anime fan, but this post-manga style that Murakami dubbed "superflat" a few years ago continues to really grab me.
