Weird Alpert in "Whipped Cream"

Boing Boing loves "Weird Al" Yankovic, and Boing Boing loves the old Herb Alpert "Whipped Cream" LP cover. Worth 1000 recently held a 'mate an album' contest, and someone decided that these two great tastes would taste great together.

Update: Mara Schwartz points us to another infamous visual remix of "Whipped Cream": "This is an actual Soul Asylum album cover," she says. Link.

Boing Boing reader George points us to Rykodisc's page for that record re-release: Link. George says,

"In the late 80s, the Minneapolis band released the EP "Clam Dip and Other Delights" complete with a cover featured the modeling talents of their lovely drummer. It was a humorous nod to what would turn out to be a short lived stint on their new label, A&M. (whose A stands for Alpert by the by).

Reader Justin Peters says,

No list of Herb Alpert "Whipped Cream" LP cover parodies is complete without the Frivolous Five's "Sour Cream & Other Delights." The album is pretty memorable too. Their version of a Taste of Honey goes through numerous complex time changes, some never before heard in pop music.

There's also Pat Cooper's "Spaghetti Sauce and Other Delights", a picture of which can be found here.

No mention of Whipped Cream should pass without a mention of Doc's "Whip It" art car (complete with live model in whipped cream. Doc is the guy that "discovered" the (in)famous Mohave Phonebooth years ago. Link.
