Xeni on NPR: Global showdown over internet governance

For today's edition of the National Public Radio program "Day to Day," I filed a report on international efforts to move central control of the Internet from the United States-based nonprofit group ICANN to an international system that would provide other governments with more direct control. Some critics of the proposed move question whether it would give too much power to countries that don't embrace the idea of open information.
