US Copyright Office delays DRM ruling

ShoutingLoudly sez, "With no explanation, the Copyright Office has failed to rule on the slate of proposed triennial exemptions to Section 1201(a)(1). [Ed- that's the section of the US copyright law that makes it illegal to break software locks, aka "circumventing DRM."] Due out on Friday the 27th, this year's ruling will be out in a few weeks. The delay may be related to the fierce debate over two proposed exemptions: one for hacking DRM that compromises your computer's security, and one for hacking CSS [Ed- the DRM in DVDs] for educational purposes."
