Furniture with secret compartments for guns, contraband

BoingBoing reader blitzcat says,

I was looking for a nightstand that wasn't so dull and found a manufacturer who specializes in furniture with secret compartments. Perfect for your guns (their recommendation) or contraband adult novelty items (Texas, Alabama, etc). I don't know anyone who keeps 5 long guns in their coffee table, but I like having that option.

I commissioned a guy in NJ to make me a table. It has nine secret compartments and, like a chinese puzzle, you have to open most of them in a particular order! It beats the crap out of those InnoFab tables. Link

My grandfather is a polish-jew. In the 1920s-30s, EVERY jewish family had furniture with secret compartments – for storing valuables like jewelry and furs.
At that time, jews were suffering persecution, had their homes raided, and were sometimes forced out of their homes in a few minutes.

He told me of fabulous chairs with secret drawers, double decked tables, mirrors with secret compartments behind them, and the such.

Sadly, when the Nazis came, they didn't even give anyone the possibility to take the furniture (and when they did, everyone had to abandon them somewhere along the way in the extremely long forced marches)
