man the Zip code partition is killing me! moved from Att area,(in my view best service, no contracts but since its good i kept it) to verizon only area(good but the two year contract? i can't even keep a girlfriend for 6 months.......) to timewarner zipcode......worst service ever! you can be online ,it then disconnects for no reason and comes back on a few seconds later.........now imagine what happens in those 5 or so seconds if you were buying something online or sending an important document...)

i wanna buy a house in a year but 1st and foremost i'll make sure TWC is not the monopoly.

Yes Yes Yes TWC Sucks!

I work from home on my computer. During the ice storm, a tree fell on the electric and cable line 2 poles down from my house. The electricity was up in 4 days, but it took a week and lots of complaining before TWC would even come and give me a "temporary fix".
The "temporary fix" was connecting the cable while they allowed it to drape across my neighbor's lawn.
The weeks went on and I kept getting temporary outages that would cause me to have to restart my VPN and several apps. (I'm talking several times a day.) I called TWC and after they took a week to get a tech to my house (long story, their fault), the tech told me that the problem is my "temporary fix". I asked him when they were going to fix the line and he tells me he doesn't know. Can't find out. Sorry.
So today - one month after the ice storm, I get a total loss of cable TV and internet. I call TWC to really complain. All they can offer is to schedule another tech to come to my house. Like that's going to help.
Here's the kicker. While I'm on the phone I'm also peering through the binoculars trying to see through the trees to what's happening with my cable line. I finally spot a hard hat behind my neighbor's roof. After I get off the phone with TW, I hike down the street and talk to the guy finally putting my line back up. I asked him how long the work order had been put in, but he wouldn't tell me. My guess is that the work order was put in when the last tech came to my house.

Unfortunately, TWC is the only game in town where I live. There is DSL, but it's even slower than TWC.

If we are lucky Time Warner Cable will go out of business. They suck hardcore. Just search in Google, Time Warner Cable sucks, there are a ton of results. They DO lie on all of their commercials too. I can't wait for Verizon FIOS to come to my area, as soon as it does TWC will lose many customers.

As we have seen time and time again, Time Warner has no idea how to support their customers WITHOUT wasting the customer's valuable time and energy. I have several observations:
1 - Time Warner Cable has NO IDEA how to support an Enterprise Network Environment;
2. Time Warner Cable insists that we, the customer, must do ALL the heavy lifting, diagnostics, and repair work EVEN AND ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PROBLEMS ARE FROM THEIR ACTIONS;
3. The 'friendly' Road Runner' support agents make the TV Show "Out Sourced" look like a WELL RUN call center.... The agents are polite, but totally ineffective, they are condescending and act like ALL customers are not very smart - they are running a 20th century support help desk in the 21st Century - this is antiquated and unexceptionable.

Having been a 'happy and blind' Time Warner Cable customer for 10 years, I now see that with 4G, NetFlix, and YouTube, the need for them being my ISP has diminished greatly, but the costs have only increased - $148 / month is not enough to justify good service?? Think again Time Warner - you are soon to feel the same economic reality you felt doing your AOL days - old technology and poor support will loose customers quickly!!!!

Well everyone seems to be having the same problems from twc mine ive been having about 5 years now

im in the same loop as everyone else. time warner is one of the only companys that delivers everywhere. i live in cleveland, one of the poorest citys in america. when our fine country decided who could get fios guess who was on the bottom of the list, all the poor people who couldn't afford cable, which means i cant get fios. which also means i cant get anything but twc on my street. i could get att and t but there 2m download and a few kb upload isn't much compared to my 15m download and 1m upload im getting now so it would be so slow that its not worth it

my problem is i get disconnected so much, i been keeping a log of what times it disconnects me. i have a severe anxiety issue which i cannot be around people in public, computer and online gaming is now my life and the only way to have any sort of contact with the word without freaking out and hyperventilating. and i cant even do that because i get kicked from the video game from a disconnection and lose all my points.

i start to write a email to someone or any sort of submission i click enter but don't realise my internet had lost its connection and is trying to reconnect, webpage comes up blank i try to hit backwards and everything i just wrote is gone.

when it rains the disconnections are so fierce all day. even afterwards it keeps disconnecting

i knew a service rep couldn't fix this, but finally after a few months i called one anyways. they came out and couldn't detect anything just like i thought, they ran tests and it wasn't disconnecting at the time so everything came back normal just like i thought, they did change all the adapters n everything just in case but the other ones weren't even old.

i said they have to look farther down the line of where the data flow is coming in like from the amp or something there's something between the company and my house that isn't working the way it should be and im dropping my signal all the time. but the techs only work in your house or the pole in front of your house anything after that your shyt out of luck

im seriously starting to think of switching to at and t and the extremely slow speeds just so i don't get disconnected. or have at and t for just gaming, and then keep twc for downloading on my computer because i don't care much if it disconnects on the computer but the gaming is a serious issue that ticks me off

Yep. Guess who still sucks? Coast to coast. TWC is the only major available ISP in my area. Also, a major pain in the rear end. They had me set up a mid-week appointment, and said they'd call before showing up, since I would have to leave work, which is close-by. It was raining real hard, and I felt sorry for the installation guy, so I told him to go ahead and reschedule, which he did through his dispatcher (telling him to make a note to call before showing up), otherwise no one would be there). Guess who didn't call before showing up? If you guessed TWC, you're right! Which means now I've had to leave work twice, losing a total amount of 4 hours of work. Obviously, this means nada zip zilch to TWC, who must be under the impression I can fart out cash at will, and thus do not need to be present at work. They can also share their sincere apologies by offering me a connection date on a weekend sometime so far in the future that the internet will by then be obsolete. Obviously I am being a bourgeois brat by fretting about a frivolity when there are people who don't have clean, if any, water to drink. Really though, this is about TWC promising something and failing to deliver. TWC=fail.

I just moved from a Cox neighborhood. I use internet for business and i need hi speed. I am staying in a home where there is an existing account, but getting the "road runner" email set up is beyind sucku.

First off THEY generate an email name. (And you thought you to to choose!!!) (never mind that the first name on the account is wrong.)
I have spent over an hour trying to get this done... Nothing.

Costs MORE than Cox-- and even the TV part sucks!!!

I can't even watch a YouTube video most of the time without it "buffering" every 20 seconds. I've replaced the modem; I'm pretty sure it's my line now. $55 / mo ripoff.

Not only does TWC's service suck, but it's connection speed sucks. The idea that Road Runner is ultra-fast is just a lie. Verizon FIOS blows it out the water. The best you'll get with TWC is 3MB DOWN and 2UP. The cheapest FIOS package is 5/2, for $10 more, you can get 15/2, and if you need an ultrafast business connection (cheaper than a T1), you can get 30/15.

TWC should be ashmed of itself for running those commercials claiming to use "Fiber Optic" Lines, it's just a lie. FIOS infrastructure is just plain better.

The last poster deserves kudos for standing up for the company's customers (which should be the first concern of any business). However, I admit I did find it humorous that TWC tried to convert its customer service personnel into a sales force. I was interested in upgrading my service from them and couldn't find anyone to talk to, getting bounced around from phone number to number to finally some salesman's cell phone voicemail (he didn't even return the call).

This week, they did a system upgrade which killed everyone's service who had a "trap" on their line. No prior notice to anyone. reason? They didn't know which customers had the traps. Then, they took two days to fix it and never told us it was fixed (after telling us the technician would have to come into our office to fix it).

What kind of company is this?

I have time warner cable. since i live in the frozen wastes of Nebraska. We don't have many cable Internet users around here. But i have a friend who also has twc and we cant share shit over any clients. I dont know why. It transfers at an applaing 6-16 kbps and dies most of the time. Same result in linux osx and windows. usually we get decent speeds. lately its been flakey. We have both had surges at night into the high 20s in mbps using popular sites like speakeasy and cnet.upload is just appaling.

I've had it w/ TWC. I happen to be tech, so I know what's up. All sort of peering problems for the last month, also - they seem to be doing something w/ TCP traffic, in particular web traffic. They're either shaping or filtering I believe, seeing weird stuff like pings go through but can't connect via HTTP. Luckily I have a Verizon Wireless card which has been surprisingly way more reliable than my cable modem. At any rate, I'm switching to Speakeasy... I watch my shows on nbc.com or download via AppleTV (don't get me started on how they seem to be throttling my AppleTV downloads).

I used to have Time Warner Cable. I hated them so much that when I moved I switched to AT&T. Well, they owed me $50 because I moved half-way through a billing cycle, and they can't seem to manage anything as simple as mailing me a refund check. It's been over 4 months. They can't even track the progress because the customer service center acts like they have no idea what state the accounting office is in and even less of a clue where their mail room is. How does this company even pretend to function?

Time Warner customer service sucks. I paid my bill on the 11th of the month. Both of my cable boxes quit working on the 12th. I called the cable company and they said that the quickest they could send someone out would be the the 18th. Well, of course they didn't show up to bring the new boxes, but I could bring the boxes to them. Because get this, THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TECHNICIANS! Like that is my problem. So I cancel the service or lack of it. Then they were supposed to pick up their boxes before I moved. That's right! They didn't come and pick them up. So I moved and took the boxes with me and called and told them where they were at and they still wouldn't come and get them. But the dirty bast***s had the nerve to send me a bill the next day telling me I owe them 747.00 for their boxes that don't work and they wouldn't come and pick up. I called their customer service rep Terry Kronin at 203-351-2221 and she sounded like she would do something but she hasn't. I say we should make a point that they lose money by having your friends and relatives switch from TW to another cable company for 3 months to another company and maybe then TW customer service will improve. Because the only thing they understand is money or the lost of it.

Ok guys I worked at time warner in the Ontario Ca center. My job was workforce admin and taking care of service level (ie: the speed that calls are answered) Time Warner has contracts with every county they do business that mandates they hold a specific service level and respond to calls within 24 hours. They wanted me to change the customer service agents into sales agents to protect a 5% abandonment rate in the sales department. This is how stupid the management is at Time Warner...the 5% of total calls made to the sales department was a raw number of like 10-15 people per day that would hang up without talking to a sales rep. The stupid ass management told me to forget the 30K plus people that were being dropped in customer service and just route all the customer care reps to sales calls to cover the 10-15 dropped "potential" sales calls. Time Warner does not care about the law, or contracts, or you. When I asked my manager to put his directions in writing he refused. I called a meeting with the entire workforce management team in addition to my manager with HR present. I made it clear that the direction they were verbally giving me was against the service level agreements in the various counties and reminded them of the class action law suit that was being filed against TWC for not honoring service level in LA, CA headed up by city attorney Rocky Delgadillo. And if this is a request it needs to be in writing. They refused to put it in writing, and said Human Resources said this "You need to follow up with the Director if you have questions regarding legal decisions that the company is directing you to do." What?!?! I though this was the job of Human Resources really they wanted me to walk up to the director and tell him face to face that his direction to my Boss that transfered down to me was illegal. WTF what kinda poop storm do you think that would cause? All I was looking for here was something in writing but the whole time they refused and tried to set me up with a confrontation with the Director. They wanted me to take full responsibility for service level without any written backup. I could be help legally responsible for this! I quit the next day, no notice, I lost my girlfriend because of it and almost a year later I finally am starting to work again. Would I do it again.....
Without a Doubt I'm tired of corporations breaking the law and thinking that people will just keep the mouth shut if they threaten them. Well some people cant be bought and just know that I am one of those people who could not stand to work for a company like Time Warner Cable seeing how they don't care about anything else except new business. Once your with them they could care less. Sad to say most corporations are like this. People stand up for what is right! If someone is asking you to do something illegal or wrong at work let your boss know that your morals your ethics cant be bought. People will say your foolish and that the only thing that matters is money but just remember you cant take it with you when this life is over.

I have to agree with everything you say in/about TWC. I have two acquaintances [in-laws in La Habra/best friend here in SanBerdoo Mtns], that have TWC...and they both continuous and ongoing outages. Not just once in a while, but up to and including multiples in the same week, and for hours at a time. One is a 75+ yr old couple with medical problems and should NOT AT ALL be without phone service [they lose "it all", when it goes],, and the other here locally, is not far behind. Maybe that is what it is going to take to get TWC off their "duffs" [to put it mildly]. And, yes, Mr. Anonymous, I would like a copy of your program. I am a retired R&D Lab Engineer,>>PC's/DAQ/Programming/Engineering Design/Construction/etc. You can contact me at <!-- res1vixp@verizon.net --> [redacted], Thank you, very much.

Just looking for a place to vent. I've been paying for Turbo for two years and I rarely get more than 3Mbps up. The service bogs down all of the time and to add insult to injury, every time I call tech support it somehow "magically" goes back to 10Mbps plus for a few hours before returning to its usual torpid self. If I had any alternative other than AT&T DSL (which is worse), I would change in a heartbeat.

I recently got Time Warner after moving from Connecticut to Maine. I have to say I am very disappointed for there Highspeed internet is half the speed it was when I was with Cox communications. Personally, TW is terrible and I am busy looking for a new ISP.

I am also an old adelphia account holder and an bad as they were Time Warner is worse. The constantly send me spam email from adelphia accounts that are not nor were mine! I've asked and asked them to stop spamming me and they refuse.

My favorite is the Speed Boost program. You can stick with their slow as snails connection for 50 bucks per month or pay an extra 10 bucks to get the speed most providers give.

As for the service being down: I create a program which logs when ones internet service is down and will calculate how much you owe your service provider every month. Always on service means always on and not sometimes. If anyone wants the program I'll post it for free. It's written in c# and is not obfuscated at all! Nothing hidden in the code as a program like Reflector will show.

It's January 3, 2009

I live around the OC area.

Particularly, when I called them, told them that I have on and off connection, the guy immediately accused me that something was wrong on my end. Wow, how can they boldly accuse that something is wrong at my end? I know they're the one not managing their connections correctly.

I'm not going to even bother with this "appointment"

What I don't understand is that, how come in all the months I've been playing online games, going on sites, and doing stuff, then suddenly in December 2008, the internet connection started to become jittery.I havn't had internet for 3 weeks now.

While writing this comment, my internet connection died 4 times, each with 1-2 minute intervals.

It is a complete pain to have constantly disconnects

Someone seriously needs to sue them so bad, that they go bankrupt.

I live around the OC area.

Particularly, when I called them, told them that I have on and off connection, the guy immediately accused me that something was wrong on my end. Wow, how can they boldly accuse that something is wrong at my end? I know they’re the one not managing their connections correctly.

I’m not going to even bother with this “appointment”

What I don’t understand is that, how come in all the months I’ve been playing online games, going on sites, and doing stuff, then suddenly in December 2008, the internet connection started to become jittery.I havn’t had internet for 3 weeks now.

I am so glad that I found this page. For the past two months we have been having huge problems with TWC. Not outages, but outright shutting off of our service. First time they did it, I tried to go to a website and got a screen full of TWC bullshit. They said that there was spam coming from our IP address or some crazyness, and because of some legal nonsense they had to shut off service. Because of course they couldn't dare chance having spam coming from a place where THEY might be responsible. There was no notice before they did this. In fact, this WAS the warning. We called and they turned the internet back on, but said if there was more spam they would turn it off for good until we could prove we weren't doing the spam. Clearly they forgot this is the United States of America, where the burden of proof is put on the accuser and not the accused.

Well, surprise surprise, they cut us off again two days later. So my parents had to hire a technician to come in and wipe all the computers in the house to make sure there was no virus on them. It was time anyway, so we ended up replacing one of the computers as well. Then after having to fax a letter saying that we had done our part to prove we were clean, they turned it back on.

A month later, it happened again. The accusation of putting up spam. So, the technician came in again today, but guess what? The computers, including the brand new one, were completely clean. Sent another fax to TWC, and they turned it on again.

So the technician finally thought that the spam might be coming from out emails and suggested we change passwords to prevent that. Well, once the internet was back on, we all looked through all of our email addresses, and there was no out-pouring of spam from the sent folders, or any sign of being hacked at all. And then he remembers the stupid RR email account. That has never been used by any of us. So we have to find out the name and password, and call TWC to try and help us figure it out. They didn't help. Figured it out on our own. And when we got into the RR mailbox, no sign of spam at all.

SO WHERE WAS IT COMING FROM?! TWC never told us at all why they thought we were sending spam, which is why we had to go through all of that. With the usual TWC customer service horrors. I can tell you right now, the Better Business Bureau is getting a complaint. And we are going to finally switch internet providers. TWC should just disappear! After they give us our rebate for the service we paid for and they did not provide, of course.
