Picture 2-37Scott Sigler, who wrote the excellent horror science fiction novel EarthCore, has a new book coming out today, called Ancestor.
ANCESTOR SYNOPSES On a remote island in Lake Superior, scientists struggle to solve the problem of xenotransplantation -- using animal tissue to replace failing human organs. Funded by the biotech firm Genada, Dr. Claus Rhumkorrf seeks to recreate the ancestor of all mammals.

By getting back to the root of our creation, Rhumkorrf hopes to create an animal with human internal organs. Rhumkorrf discovers the ancestor, but it is not the small, harmless creature he envisions. His genius gives birth to a fast-growing evil that nature eradicated 250 million years ago -- an evil now on the loose, and very, very hungry.

You can also get Ancestor as a free audiobook. Link

Reader comment:

Scott says: "Feel free to give you readers this PDF as well. Some people don't get into the audio." (This is a PDF of the entire book)

Hello, I have heard much + about Scott Siglers (heard “Bloodcast Season 1″ & esp liked “RedMan”) & decided to look up “Ancestor”. I Googled it and wound up with the Amazon link http://www.amazon.com/Ancestor-Scott-Sigler/dp/1896944736. Here it says (cut & paste)
“1 new from $175.99 14 used from $58.11″. Wow, that’s one heck of a paperback book price! I have the complete Nuremburg Trials from back in the day, many books, in my basement. The entire set prob wouldn’t go for the stated price of this paperback. This must be a misprint, and shouldn’t go uncorrected, as it might make those inclined to purchase (I had been thinking of getting both a podiobook which had also been published in standard book format for a brother, but even without the recession almost $60.00 would be discouraging. I’m not cheap, just underfunded. Someone should clear this up. For $175.99, do you get the Ancestor, too? I haven’t read the book yet or heard the podiobook, but something tells me that wouldn’t be a good thing. Heathen, anonymously
