The Canadian government is backpedalling on its proposal to make it easier for cops to wiretap the Internet without a warrant (the original document called the need to get wiretap warrants "a problem"). Now the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Search Engine program is crowdsourcing a set of questions for Stockwell Day, the minister responsible for the proposal (Day refused to grant them an interview). Day's office is looking to find time for an interview
I blogged about this last week — it's some creepy, PATRIOT Act-style stuff, and the fact that the government was planning to conduct its hearing in secret sure doesn't help.
