My aunt was a patron of the arts, and got tickets to a number of events, and this was the single most boring show of my childhood by far. RIP for his legacy, but please dont take your 6 yr olds to 2 hours worth of miming

    R.I.P. Marcel Marceau

MY younger sister went to France with her boyfriend a few years ago hoping to meet him or visit his school and I’m not sure she did, though it is sad that he’s done his final act already.

One of Marceau’s most surreal moments: A mime speaking in a silent film:

I worked on a TV commercial with him for Kleenex in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

I have a Polaroid of me and him and a box of Kleenex.

True. They won’t appreciate it, and a mime is a terrible thing to waste.

    ( Waves goodbye. )

my grandfather is actually the cousin of marcel marceau. i was in france a few years ago and we tried visiting him, although we didn’t have any success. my friend actually lived in his village!

  • porkbarrel

    I’m speechless.

  • gomer_is

I wonder what his last words were?

  • Paul Bowen

“I wonder what his last words were?”

“Will someone PLEASE turn off that wind machine!”

That’s too bad about Marcel Marceau ….

I think he’s been sick a while though …the last time I saw him on TV he looked really pale.

At least he has experience at being encased in a box.

Here’s a little Marcel Marceau trivia: He was originally asked to star in the Quiet Man before John Wayne.

I know a guy who bought one of his barrettes at a silent auction.

Life is short… the mime passes so quickly

The Family is asking for pretend donations in lieu of pretend flowers

In honor of his passing it would be a nice gesture… if we all gestured.

I wish the rest of the French were as quiet himas he was.

Let’s all observe a moment of noise in honor of his passing.

    I’m here all week.

As the only French speaker on the stagecrew where he was appearing, I was recruited to be his assistent. His English was perfect and he truely needed no help so I got to watch him from the wings, both aspects of the performance.

I had the pleasure of being married to a woman who studied with Marcel Marceau. I remember when I first saw Marceau and I found him to be absolutely magical as a stage performer and mime. Marcel Marceau was an artist on the order of Chaplin… and was a man of DEEP artistic wealth. The world has lost a gem… and REAL artist. Marceau was a RARE gift, a special man and a GREAT PERFORMER who entertained the entire world. Long live Bip!!!

I saw the best mimes of my generation destroyed by madness

  • Flying Squid

    Warning: Sick joke-

Now he really IS trapped in a box!

  • DragonPhyre

Well… we know he went quietly.

    *rimshot*

Wow… It’s always the quiet ones.

    *rimshot*

Now he really is trapped in a box.

    *rimshot*

    And finally…

Well, at least we won’t hear from him again. Get it? hear? HA! Comedy.

    Everyone’s a critic.

  • ronbailey

I can’t believe either of you guys even went there – but I laughed my ass off both times…

  • kaosdevice

Would a moment of silence cause an irony-storm?

  • romulusnr

I feel like arguing that a moment of noise would be more appropriate.
