This is unrelated to this post, though this post made me feel better on what is turning out to be a dreary day.
Ever since Boing Boing revamped the site, it crashes my Firefox about once out of every five hits. It hangs up while trying to load the Doubleclick murk and can't recover. Is this happening to anyone else?
I'm pretty confident that poster is a ripoff of a pic I've seen floating around certain websites for a couple years that has a picture of a bunch of peppers with a headline that says, "LOOK AT THESE PEPPERS Oh yeah, we've got motherfucking peppers. Goddamn green ones, and fucking yellow ones, and . . ."
Here's a link: http://www.anotherchan.org/src/1175857436444.jpg
Ripoff or no, that made my day =) If anything deserves to be publicly proclaimed it's the awesomeness of one's dog! I love, too, that the picture so perfectly matches the text - that dog KNOWS he's m-f'ing awesome...
@ #1 SUBSPACE: I use Firefox, and I haven't had any issues. Do you have any extensions or greasemonkey scripts that you used with the old site design. Maybe they interfere.
Since we're talkin about the new redesign of the site... I'm not lovin all the attention to the advertisements. When the very first item at the top of a website is not the name of the website and is instead an advertisement, something is wrong.
Not to mention, that when you open the comments page, you have the same advertisements slow the page load. I know, your trying to make money and all, but I hope this doesn't turn into a corporate splattered ad site.
Simon @6: I am currently using AdBlock Plus, but I'll search out NoScript as well. Thanks.
I've dug through my own Firefox and I can't find anything that'd be causing it. It could be coincidence that it hiccups at the Doubleclick load (though, that seems unlikely). Oh wells.
This reminds me of a flier I saw in suburban Las Vegas a few years ago. It was tacked to a telephone pole and I ignored it for weeks thinking it another lost dog poster, then one day stopped long enough to read it. It was a picture of two cute white dogs and the text read, in its entirety "Look at these dogs. Cute aren't they? Everybody loves a cute dog." Made my day. Don't know where this meme comes from, but I think it's pretty goddamn funny.
This dog IS motherfucking awesome. I know because I have a motherfucking awesome dog too. I have to admit though, my dog is so much more awesome. That awesome dog probably just sheds awesome amounts of fur.
LOL - that made me laugh ... also reminded me of a "Missing: Imaginary Friend" poster I saw on Robson St. in Vancouver back in 2001. I put a copy up on Flickr:
You finding Ling-Ling head? Someone come into yard, kill dog, cut off head of dog. Ling-Ling very good dog. Very much want head return. REWARD Call 871-7421

That pepper picture is from the test page of the HPLIP Linux drivers for HP printers. I immediately thought of it too.

You need AdBlock Plus and NoScript. The Doubleclick scripts are, to use a splendid Scottish term, mince.
He doesn't look all that awesome.

Xerxes is indeed an awesome dog name.
He may be an awesome dog but (assuming this is real) he has an asshat for an owner.
Someone made a LOL dog of this.

@Jccalhoun
Why'd you have to bring the hate? It's a piece of fluff and hardly work the negativity, my friend! Peace!

Count me among the awed-by-the-awesome.
It's shouldn't be so unusual for someone to announce that at least one part of their life is A-OK, but it is, and that makes it all the more welcome.
And yes, that is one self-satisfied canine.
Grt wht trsh wrdng. r y by ny chnc frm pplch?

But awesome still.
Kyle Goetz, swiping a trope isn't a ripoff. Tropes are fair game.
SeelDee, thank you.
Holey Crap!! This is the first time I've actually been able to comment.
Couldn't happen on a better post!
Meme/trope/whatever - people SHOULD spend more time announcing the good stuff in their life!
Huskies are routinely weirdly awesome. Or awesomely weird. Like Chairman Mischa:

Is it just me or does this sound like something that Douglas from The IT Crowd would say about his own dog? ;)
I wonder if this husky named Xerxes is one and the same?
calanan, I don't think it's the same, yours is a malmute, the flier is a husky. Just the same great name.

too obvious?

Now I know where to go if I want to steal a beautiful motherf**king dog.
Do you suppose it could be that this is Ellen Degeneres' bill? Perhaps she was on ecstasy.
I'd like to thank JCCALHOUN for reminding me of the word "asshat", which I had forgotten about.
"Asshat" is the most awesome fuckin' word in the whole fuckin world.
And say what you will but Huskies are the most beautiful dogs in the world.
Can I just say that I love the peeps at Atomic Books & Atomic Pop? Thank you sugarfreak (original poster o' link), Thank you.
