    @4 : faraday cage does electric fields – for screening these kind of magnetic fields the lock needs a layer of mu metal or the like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu-metal

    Someone should try using an EasAlign driver to achieve the same. I saw it on This Old House some time ago and it came to mind at the mention of spinning magnets on a drill, which is essentially what the driver bit is.

    Might you also be able to fry the electronic lock by causing a large electrical surge off the solenoid? Would a Faraday cage block the magnetic field?
