Without the bloody glaze and the butcher shop presentation (the shrinkwrap styrofoam trays, the honkin' great metal hooks) these would not look so gruesome. They are, in fact, quite beautiful.

I wondered about how they retained their shape and I think they aren't a very yeasty springy dough. I think they are sculpture first and food second.

I wonder about the customers and why they are buying them. For the gross out? For some other reason.

Pretty nifty work, all in all.

Ewwwwwww, I mean really, ewww.. why would anyone want those.. things.. let alone eat them? I really wish there was subtitles so we could understand just what exactly the purpose of all this is. If that would even help.

Pretty amazing work!

Reminds me of a Halloween costume I did a years ago with a stuffed monkey shoved into a meat grinder. Instead of actual meat coming out the other end, I just ground normal bread and fake blood. As it exits the meat grinder, it ends up looking exactly like ground beef -- even in good lighting! Thus, I was able to eat it and gross people out.

I wonder how the bread's features retain their definition as the dough rises.

Look at all my trials and tribulations
Sinking in a gentle pool of wine
Don't disturb me now I can see the answers
Till this evening is this morning life is fine

Always hoped that I'd be an apostle
Knew that I would make it if I tried
Then when we retire we can write the gospels
So they'll still talk about us when we've died

The end . . .
Is just a little harder when brought about by friends
For all you care this wine could be my blood
For all you care this bread could be my body
The end!
This is my blood you drink
This is my body you eat
If you would remember me when you eat and drink . . .

That would be a serious communion wafer (or loaf)!
When you get the body of Christ,
boy, do you get the body of Christ!

Palindromic :

This is pretty tame, by Thai standards. Thailand, being a Buddhist country, is fairly comfortable with death and gore as mere corpereal things; there are newspapers in Thailand which feature only photographs of the days' gruesome deaths in car accidents and the like, and many Buddhist monks "Study" pictures of corpses to remind them that the body is just a temporary vessel, and decays.

As a Westerner, I will admit this bread is really hideous and gruesome. But it's _SO_ Thai to do this kind of thing. The "haunted house" in Thai themeparks contain models that would make little white kids shit their pants.
