Nude Magazine's got a free, downloadable papercraft CCTV camera, for freaking out your neighbors. Put one in the bathroom. The dog house. Use it for a hood-ornament. Build Your Own Nude Magazine CCTV Camera (Thanks, Alice!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

I thought this would be funny for my cube but who in the hell are you supposed to print this out properly? Both IE7 and FF3 show it has huge and not fitting on one page. I would assume you wouldn’t want to “Shrink to Fit” as that messes with the original size of the images…and I just dumb?

@#5 Membrain (if that is your real name…)

“seeing that CCTVs are all evil and stuff, how would it be a good thing to freak out your neighbor with a faked one?”

It’s no worse than, say, doing this with bread.

  • Takuan

CCTVs? Meh. MY neighbors, on the other hand, wonder just what it is that I’m burying in the backyard late at night. And why so often…

  • Anonymous

That’s funny. I also made a paper cctv template a couple of years ago and plastered the city of Cologne with them – a real fun project. Unfortunately most cameras were taken down within hours. You can see a few images here:

Better yet, make an papercraft CCTV camera and put a real pinhole webcam in it.

  • membrain

Well i see that it is funny but the first thought scared me.. it’s the cosmic rays; missing my tinfoil hat which was stolen by the aliens from underearth

  • thekinginyellow

i agree with diesel. this really should be a vector pdf. i’m in the process of redoing all of the lines just for my own personal satisfaction but come on now. vector please from now on?

“Oh holy Flying Spaghetti Monster, please install one of these to watch over your evil stepchild Cory – to make sure he remembers to brush his teeth before going to bed – amen.”

Make your home safer than an airplane:

    1. Papercraft metal detector
    2. Papercraft X-Ray carousel
    3. Papercraft CCTV (2 or more for TSA compliance)
    4. Common sense*

    * Items 1-3 optional

  • membrain

Ok but, seeing that CCTVs are all evil and stuff, how would it be a good thing to freak out your neighbor with a faked one?

  • jdgiotta

Can you see this as making people more comfortable with the idea of CCTV?
They’re taking a serious issue and making it a joke.

Its like making a board game where you play the president and attack Iraq, but with a Clue like direction. “Cheney with the fake Intel docs?” “No, it was Powell with the mobile missile lab!”
