Medic Aesthetic Alert

huskens001.jpg

I am loving this strange medical-themed footwear. Created by student designer Gwendolyn Huskens, the set of six sick shoes aim to "reveal the taboos associated with physical deformities." Couture for the clubfooted? Reminds me of Romain Slocombe's medical fetishism, "Crash," and stumbling supermodels. More images at designboom. Photo credit: René Van Der Hulst.

I'm not sure. More like cash-in on "physical deformities".

As soon as I tried to walk in those heels, I'd fall over and break my legs. I guess this would ease the transition between regular shoes and the casts I would need nicely...

My friend is missing the lower half of one leg. She has really cool feet, like a high heeled one and a special running one. It's funny she moves beautifully (she's an actor and dancer - and brilliant clown) - so you forget about it - until she takes it off and hits somebody with it.

I cannot imagine how good or bad those are to walk in, but they look really cute

This also brings to mind "Gynecological Tools for Mutant Women" from another Cronenberg classic, "Dead Ringers".
