Agies sez, "Kaja Foglio has dug up a 1907 children's book illustration of what Santa will look like in 2007. It's the first pair of desktop images on the page." Santa in 2007: A vintage vision of the future from a children's book published in 1907 (Thanks, Agies!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

    I just love this stuff.

What’s interesting to me is that there are no antennas, power lines and any sort of cables.

The artist’s imagination was only able to expand on the concepts that were familiar to him at the time. Specifically, the balloon and the architecture of the buildings.

@1 Awesome. I’ve done my best to pass that link along to the Foglios.

How old sci-fi becomes steampunk. I love it.
