Chitra Ganesh is a Brooklyn-based artist whose drawings, photographs, and digital collages are inspired by Indian's Amar Chitra Katha comix series. She has a show of new work opening next week at the Chatterjee & Lal gallery in Mumbai. The incredible piece above is "Still from The Ghost Writer" (lenticular print, 19.75" x 27.5"). Of course, a lenticular print gives the illusion of depth and movement like those Cracker Jack prizes. But this one is a couple feet wide! The exhibition, titled The Ocean Beneath, runs until January 29. Chitra Ganesh's site (chitragensh.com), More of Ganesh's work (thomaserben.com)

“Abject imagery and disjunctive narratives” abound!

very cool. I went to some modern art galleries in Mumbai and was blown away. Modern Indian art is quite awesome.

Although to be exact, Chitra Ganesh is more of an Indian American artist, not an Indian born/raised artist.

The image is that of Zeenat Aman from the film Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978). This was a dream sequence.

  • premaram

The image thats corresponding to this article is actually a screen grab from an old Indian movie (b-grade). Is that a painting by Chitra ?

    Mazikeen, is that you?
