BB pal Tim Biskup attacked Tokyo earlier this month with a new show of paintings, toys, and other brilliant bits. Kirsten Anderson — proprietor of Seattle's Roq La Rue Gallery, author of Pop Surrealism: The Rise of Underground Art, and editor-at-large of Hi-Fructose Magazine — was there and shares this report and photos (click for larger images):

The show at STITCH featured an small but impressive array of old school monster canvases and a few paintings best described (by me anyway) as "Kaiju Kubism". Alongside that was a bunch of vinyl mashups, collaborations by Biskup and vinyl virtuoso < ahref="http://www.muse-um.com/">T9G. (The other T in the show title.)
The creme de la creme of Tokyo's hipster elite, vinyl kingpins, and Otaku geeks (as well as a handful of the most adorable kids in the universe) were in full force, lining up down the block, ogling the goods for hours, and getting posters and toys signed by Tim and T9G. We spent several hours sweating with the crowd, drinking Pabst and coveting pretty, pretty plastic….
