Bean

Anne Karsten says:

"Bean," by Olivia, was one of 24 Stuffed Monsters I made in collaboration with a group of 4th & 5th graders as fundraising project for their school. You can find detailed pictures on my website in the Stuffed Monster Gallery, and a bit about making them on the Making Monsters page.

How nice to have it custom-made by a small businessperson though. I learned about these when they were in development and it’s so cool to see them here!

Nifty! Reminds me of The Monster Engine.

This is so funny, I just stumbled across your wonderful site via soulemama tonight. I’m taking a break from my current project which happens to be making creatures for an auction at my daughter’s school!

CVS drug stores sold ones like these a few years ago, a charity I think for childrens hospitals. Kids who were patients did the original drawings. They were great!

  • senorglory

No doubt, the coolest thing I’ll see today.

Remember that FAO Schwarz also does something similar for $250:

Really super idea. I wish you would take personal orders. What a wonderful gift to bring a young persons drawing to life (reality). Sewing needles and I have a difficult and bloody relationship.
    Thank you for this.

    Beautiful monsters. Inspiring!

Yo Brie – check out her making monsters page. She does take personal orders!

If you would rather have me make a creation from your child’s drawing for you, I’d be delighted to – please contact me first. You’ll need to email me a clear jpg photo of the drawing to review, and I’ll give you a quote for the total cost of the creation – most will fall between $250-$350 plus shipping. Payment is through paypal, and a non-refundable fee of $150 is required for me to begin work. Once the drawing is reviewed, I’ll email you a link to a private page where payments can be made, and where I’ll post a photo of your final project for you to review and approve. Then I’ll ship it to you and email you the tracking number.

Very nicely amazing and happy things, by the way.
