The 1984 sculpture in this video was located in the San Francisco FAO Schwartz's window for a couple of years. It's now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $4500. The maker says, "I'll include alot of matchbox and hotwheel vehicles(some of which i've retrofitted with head and tail lights." Matchbox Mountain (Thanks, Michael-Anne Rauback!)

    Thanks for the smile!

Yeah. Cool object and nice music. Anyone know who it is?

Nice! Reminds me of this illustration in the 1971 Matchbox catalog where Matchbox was clearly trying to snag some of the Hot Wheels “cool/fast” market.

I like the video, it’s got rhythm and pace. does the tough assistant come with to feed cars to the phantasmagoric castle? where all cars regardless of brand can play(includes matchbox AND hotwheels)DREAMS ARE PRICELEss! somehow the combination of Americana and fantasy reminds me of Rocky Horror picture Show when Brad And Janet break down outside the Frankenfurter castle/ship.

Gorgeous and all but $4500? Good luck with that!

i know the guy who made this and he said he’d probably make about a dollar an hour if he figured the time he put in. the subtleties of just the paint application can only be appreciated in person. he said he almost gave up trying to get it to work. it is for some ritchies who want the ultimate playroom toy. the speed metal princess in the video can crush you if your not nice.

$pending 4500+ ducats to buy this for your spoiled child = lame.

Being inspired to build your own with your child’s willing participation = really cool!

@5, uh, I don’t see anyone buying this for their kid. This is for collectors who want something unique.
