Swine Flu PSAs from1976

Jeffkrulik says:

From the voluminous shelves of the National Archives, here are vintage Swine Flu PSAs from 1976.

For those who don't remember the great swine flu scare, here's a website I just googled.

(Thanks, Gord!)

  1. God, it really is the 70’s all over again. At least we have the new punk rock to look forward to.

  2. hahaha @1min “Betty’s mother gave it to her best friend Dotty… but Dotty had a heart condition and she died”

hahahaha, the voice makes this hilarious

  3. Also – the line forms to the left to get the left-over Smallpox vaccine that they stockpiled in 2004.
    — Hey, where’s everybody going? This is a REAL PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERN! We’re not fear-mongering! It’s for your own good! Hey look! Even President Bush got one! Come on, line up now.

    Wait! come back!

  4. Someone with some time and ability, PLEASE change the ending of that 2nd spot to a warning about VD or crabs. It’s just begging for it.

Oh, and Mr. Healthy 55 ? Why do you have a cane?

  5. It sounds like like the voice of William Shatner (Captain Kirk) for the male voice-over. Anyone agree?

  6. #13: Do the Daily Show writers have a teleport to the future? They showed a clip of this in Monday night’s episode, and this was posted on BB on Tuesday.

  7. #16 Oh my god, they’re PSYCHIC.
    Or probably used Google.
Or had someone who remembered this.
But its still an interesting correlation.

  8. #15: I can’t tell, maybe. But the chihuahua looks like Bobby from “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.”

  9. My parents got the ’70s swine flu shot. They usually don’t believe in the flu shot, but at the time, everyone was making such a big deal about it.

My mom got really, really sick from the shot and regrets ever taking it.
