Daniel sez, "I work at the American Library Association's Booklist magazine (I make a lot of ALA's videos, including the one of the FBI whistleblower that Boing Boing mentioned last year). My debut young-adult novel, THE MONSTER VARIATIONS, comes out on August 11. As a promotional tool (but mostly because it's fun), I've been posting all the terrible movies I made as a teen growing up in Iowa. The blog is called Francis Ford Iowa. For the most part, we remade movies we liked, including MISERY, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE BLOB, AND THE GODFATHER."

Francis Ford Iowa (Thanks, Daniel!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

No Children of the Corn? In Iowa? Come on!

  • kmoser

When were these done? None of them are marked with a creation date.

    DK,

That’s OK, these look hilarious. I’m sure I’ll cope somehow.

We used to make videos of ‘magic tricks’ when I was a kid, using special effects that would have fooled anyone, provided they had never seen any form of film or television in their entire lives.

looks much better than “be kind, rewind”

Usually in the closing credits there is a copyright date. Making it through to the closing credits is difficult, though.

    This guy’s my new hero.

How cool that these films, which were probably made without any thought of being seen by strangers, are now visible to the entire (online) planet.

  • DK

No “Children of the Corn,” but next week I’ll be posting “Dan’s Brew,” which involves both children and corn. (It’s the third shot in the trailer.)

Just wait until “The Blob” is posted. It’s the piece de resistance!
