Prior to this there was the Kutiman video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tprMEs-zfQ), the theremin Gnarls Barkley video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW0B1sipLBI), Flight of the Concords did something similar - I can't seem to find it though :( - and I just saw that Pepsi jumped on the bandwagon and released a tool to let people create these sorts of videos too (http://www.youtube.com/refresheverything). I'm really curious to see where this leads...it seems a bit of a (unintended?) slippery slope for the labels/artists that are letting this happen. I hope it's a sign that they are growing more comfortable with letting their fans remix/repurpose content and build on their art. Or maybe I'm putting too much meaning behind this stuff...but I'd love to think this is a baby step that will lead to more openness and flexibility in copyright when it comes to music... I love the creativity that people have.
