Bonnie sez, "Star Wars artist Chris Trevas got hitched and had this glorious dead Tauntaun cake (complete with Luke Skywalker stuffed inside) made for the groom's cake at his wedding! The cake was made by Courtney Clark from Cake Nouveau of Food Network Challenge (and TLC Ultimate Cake-Off) fame!"

Dead Tauntaun Wedding Cake! (Thanks, Bonnie!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Hope the groom cleared that cake with the bride first.

  • technogeek

It is a beautiful job, and appropriate for the individual … and that’s part of why there’s sometimes a separate groom’s cake.

But I do assume the bride extracted a suitably-sized concession elsewhere in the arrangements.

(Not to my taste, as cake or artwork go. But I appreciate the skill that went into it.)

When I first saw this headline and image I thought it was a “Montauk Monster” wedding cake… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montauk_Monster

    @mdh
That’s exactly where my mind went

I think Courtney Clark is incredibly talented, and as we know from shows like Ace of Cakes, and Cake Boss there are a lot of unconventional cakes wanted for Grooms cakes, and even wedding cakes, I am not a star wars fan, but this looks amazing to me!
Great going Courtney Clark you got on BOING BOING!!!

The question is, does it smell bad on the outside?

  • HeatherB

Yep, that’s awesome and I’m jealous. I had Pepe Le Pew and Penelope on my cake. Wish I had thought of this. Did walk down the aisle to Darth Vaders Song though, so that’s okay.

  • StRevAlex

    One word: creepy!

  • Von Haus

As someone from Taunton the title of this confuses me a bit, is it a typo or was the groom’s cake actually in Taunton?

    • Antinous / Moderator

      Von Haus,

My first thought was to wonder if the bride got a Fall River cake.

too funny – I actually wanted to read this because my dad lives in Seekonk and wondered what in the world is a Taunton cake (instead of the Tauntaun cake it is) – I imagined a multicolored cake (thinking of the multicolor houses there)

The title is spelled wrong. Its supposed to be “Tauntaun”.

My wife will never have any ammunition to throw at me when it comes at our wedding cake.

it was boringly traditional and delicious.

I can see how some people that get too creative will find years later that the cake issue is brought out during marital strife.

It is awesome that there are people so dumb.

And I thought they smelled bad… on the OUTSIDE.

I thought Falcor had died till I saw Luke. Glad Falcor’s ok.
