I don't know anything about the law firm of Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman, but holy cats, that's a funny ad.

Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman | "Power" (via Lowering the Bar)

Previously:
  • Investing in litigation: beat the street by buying a share in ...

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Now I wish I had somebody to sue, just to support this company and their awesome ads.

    • Scuba SM

If you live in the US, and you think you don’t have anyone to sue, then you’re not thinking hard enough. We can sue anyone, for pretty close to any reason, and frequently make large sums of money doing so. In fact, I think it’s in our bill of rights somewhere.

    • Itsumishi

What do you mean had somebody to sue?

Your fingertips are still tingling from that hot cup of coffee in the paper cup. Why didn’t that barista simply double cup!?

And that shirt favourite shirt of yours fit perfectly before you took it to the dry cleaners before that important job interview. Factor in loss of earnings and you’ve got a $2,000,000 case on your hands!

  • RedShirt77

Pretty much all modern games Auto-save.

    • Gutierrez

That’s the curse of retro-gaming. I wonder if statute of limitations has passed on this case if the game was produced more than ten years ago.

  • zikman

    it’s probably a true story

  • Tdawwg

I hope that man never plays Demon’s Souls.

  • John Hudgens

“Holy cats”? Someone’s been watching COmmander USA, I think… :)

  • IronEdithKidd

And no comments about the first name of the firm being Trolman? Sad. Commenters disapoint on BBs on-line b-day.

  • Micah

I forget whether they’re the ones with 1-800-DIVORCE, 1-800-BANKRUPT and 1-800-INNOCENT (all of which are phone numbers for lawyers I’ve seen on the NYC subway). But they definitely have ads in the NYC subway with the phone number 212-MARGARITA for Spanish speakers in need of a good abogado.

  • jimkirk

Lawyers with a sense of humor, I like it!

My favorite lawyer joke (told to me by a patent lawyer):

“I don’t like to use Latin, per se…”

  • Antinous / Moderator

Hmm. Maybe I should call them. Socal Edison just told me that my neighborhood is having a ten hour electrical shutdown. At night. In January.

  • Teller

In two weeks they’ll probably take his case anyway.

  • Anonymous

While he probably couldn’t sue the power company, he could sue anyone who deliberately shut off his game thus losing his gamesave.

As far as the law is concerned it’s no different than someone deliberately turning of the power to your computer thus losing your work. That’s a sue-able offense. It doesn’t matter if that data is a spreadsheet for your taxes or some game data you spent 70 hours creating.

And now that Korea has declared that virtual currency is the same as real currency, losing game data can take on even more legal responsibilities.

  • blatantdisregard

Noticed another one titled “Machete” after this one played. Pretty good, too.

  • rick386

Yes, that was funny. Not only that, I sypathised with the guy. put me on the jury and he wins.

  • Chuck

Hmmmm. There was that one time some little kid unplugged the pinball game I’d been playing…

    • Anonymous

      oh that’s just not cool

      • Chuck

        >oh that’s just not cool

Yeah. The pinball machine unplugging happened in a laundromat where (some) children had a tendency to run a little wild (not the only problem with that place). When it happened, I was pissed off (not enough to sue) but stayed civil, although I imagine some of the more hotheaded people in that place wouldn’t have handled it so well.

I go to a much quieter laundromat now.

  • stosh machek

not sure whether to be impressed or very wary of lawyers w/ a sense of humor

    • jackie31337

Be very wary. Lawyers with a sense of humor are contrary to nature.

  • dschneider73

Hilarious. Trolman, Glaser & Lichtman advertises incessantly on the NY subways. Glad to see that their constant underground trolling has glazed eyes and given no light, man, so they’ve branched out in their ad strategy.

  • sbarnes2

Hahaha! That is so cute! I know I’ve been there :)
