I respect any woman who dresses up like Ernst Blofeld in her wedding announcement. And the rest of the video is pretty awesome, too. (And, no, I do not personally know this couple—though I kind of wish that I did.)

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

  • Robbo

    That is freakin’ awesome!

  • FreakCitySF

    1. A good 6 inch difference in height.
    2. Can you marry your adopted asian brother in CA?
    3. Why does the woman wear the red vest. Why doesn’t he wear a Ed Hardy t-shirt instead.
    4. I’m just being an ass.

    • Anonymous

      @FreakCitySF yes, yes you are.

      the video is awesome.

  • Anonymous

no it’s not a viral marketing piece. I know the couple (my friend’s friend) and they’ve been together for a long time. They’re both really into filming, that’s all.

  • Anonymous

Not sure that I would have used the song from Requiem for a Dream in my wedding announcement (too many weird associations) but hey .. COOL!

      ASS2ASS ?

  • TJ S

With a Save-the-Date that epic, the wedding had better be something incredible.

I’d consider driving from Denver to L.A. to crash it, in fact. I bet, knowing the names and date, it wouldn’t be too difficult to figure out which venue that wedding is at…

  • Anonymous

    Great work.

Here’s an even better save the date!

(better production quality, excellent story line, real horses, and yes, that’s the bride rising from the water and the groom slicing a watermelon in mid-air)

Cheers to Dan and Jen’s Save the Date

What really kept me watching was the Vietnamese subtitle. I thought Wong is a Chinese last name….?

  • Nate3000

I wonder if the guy who did the voice-over does that professionally..

  • kitschnbeautician

    I laughed, I cried, . ..

and wished that were me – I sure am that tall!!

  • Baldhead

Can i request that people please stop using “Battle Without Honor or Humanity” in their.. anything? And let’s add “Misirlou” to that list too please. Lots of freaking music out there, folks show some originality.

And yes I know in this case that’s part of the point but it’s still grating. All offenders should be forced to listen to Susan Boyle’s whole album five times straight.

They totally took my idea! I made a quick “trailer” for my save the date 2 years ago!

    http://www.muffinpants.com

I was first!! (probably not first… someone must have done this before 2008… funny nonetheless)

  • feuilletoniste

As someone living ‘halfway around the world’ (but more so) I just enjoyed the sheer Sydney-ness of the surroundings. Pretty!

  • Chocolatey Shatner

Awww, that was adorable and funny! Kinda makes me even more wistful that I don’t have the legal right to marry…

  • Wade Kwon

Clearly the wedding will be done in CGI, or staged in Toronto to look like L.A.

    Thanks for the shout out.

  • CANTFIGHTTHEDITE

Forget about the catering, the wedding’s special effects will surely bankrupt them!

  • xwizbt

    Excellent.

  • eZee

Anybody know how those effects were done?

  • Anonymous

    Nate3000 – the answer is yes. http://www.wayneaudio.com/

  • eZee

I mean i understand theres a greenscreen in the background at times… but what software/s was used…? it was damn good!

  • freddiefraggles

Let’s just hope they don’t get totally crippled by the record companies for using all of those copyrighted songs.

Although, to be honest, schadenfreude FTW.

  • ExodousEternal

The announcer is spot on A+

  • icky2000

The voiceover guy has a site: http://www.wayneaudio.com/.

  • fnc

The red band trailer is better…

Nice work though. Congrats to Jeff and Erin.

  • ill lich

Was he standing on a milk crate for that “fireworks kiss” scene?

When I was very young (10 years old perhaps) my dad made a comment about a couple standing near us at the mall, pointing out how the male was wearing cowboy boots with big heels that brought him up to her height, and how “ideally the man should be taller than the woman.” I asked why and he couldn’t give me a straight answer, and I knew right away it was BS. It’s horrible to say, but I lost a little respect for my dad on that day.

    They make a lovely couple.

  • Crutch

    good stuff :D

  • Anonymous

That is superb! Congratulations, from a complete stranger. :)

  • bpratt

eZee – I’d like to know too! A lot of that you could do just with iMovie, and you can get a pretty nice “20th Century Fox” type intro with the awesome and free Star Wars Title Generator (http://alienryderflex.com/crawl/), but yeah, this is maybe a step up from all that… surely some Boinger can offer an educated guess?

  • knyghtryda

Epically awesome, and a great show of the power of a decent DSLR that can shoot video. Good luck with everything Jeff and Erin!

  • jackie31337

Fantastic! Jeff and Erin, if you’re reading this, congratulations!

  • Freddie Freelance

I was hoping for a James Bond bit in there after the Blofeld visual quote; something like:

“Do you expect me to talk?”

“No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to bring a Fondue Pot and a Plus One date.”

  • Doug Nelson

Is it 10/10 or 10/9? Both are mentioned. And should I have watched that if I’m not invited? It says at the beginning it’s not approved for me.

    • Carl Rigney

It says 10-10-10 eve, which would be October 9th, as it confirms later.

What a great video! They and the couple who came down their wedding aisle dancing to “Forever” should somehow wind up crossing paths.

  • Anonymous

Hah, I know another Jeff Wong, I just sent this out to the mailing list he’s on to freak everyone out.

I love seeing when a chick is taller than the guy. You KNOW they’re both secure in themselves. (I say this having listened to many tall girlfriends whining because they only could find guys they liked who were shorter.)

  • PeaceLove

Hmm…skeptical. Could this be a viral marketing piece?

Seemed a bit too professionally done. I mean, I know digital technology is now available to the teeming masses, but I have never seen *that* kind of skill and sophistication in execution from any amateur production. Or even from most “professional” houses outside of major production studios.
