Marc de Vinck says: "I was watching SpongeBob with the kids. During the snail races I noticed the announcer's mug. OK, so it most likely stands for Bikini Bottom (where SpongeBob lives), but maybe, just maybe, it stands for something else?!"

inb4 “spongebob exemplifies what’s wrong with kids today”

also inb4 “spongebob is today’s answer to Ren and Stimpy” and “No it’s not, STFU”

    beavis and butthead?

  • JonStewartMill

I was a fan of SpongeBob long before it was cool. Now I’ve moved on to “The Misadventures of Flapjack” and am patiently waiting for the rest of the world to join me.

an amazing show (flapjack) for sure.
      you are not alone

    • Stefan Jones

Flapjack is cool enough, but for true twistedness you can’t beat Chowder.

Betty Boop? Bobby Bonds? Big Ben? Big Boi? Whatever and whomever it might refer to, I do, I do desire a mug like that. (A mug from which to drink, not a mug like that fish-announcer’s face.)

    Brigitte Bardot!

  • Pantograph

I think the it’s a tribute to Sir Mixalot. The back reads “And I can not lie.”

      Pantograph FTW!

It is truly sad that even children’s cartoons are now promoting unprotected sex.

Wait… This means that BB has a legit defamation case against the makers of Sponge Bob, the network that broadcasts it, and any one else remotely involved. I firmly believe that Boing Boing has the “two letter recongnition” to be hurt by this. E*Trade and Sponge Bob… you will both feel the wrath of bored overpriced lawyers!

i love the poster in the back. in the cartoon they’re having snail races and the snails revolt when they’re continually pushed into races they don’t want to participate in. then, snail love.

    built for speeeeeed.

I’m thinking that looks as much like Ira Glass as Cory. Still awesome.

Disappointing lack of steampunk. Other than that, completely awesome.

    Bikini Bottom

  • Kerov

I really wanted it to be a sly crypto-Orwellian allusion to “I love Big Brother.”
