Man, New Keyboard Cat totally ripped off MY sweet GarageBand jams!

This cat looks just about ready to space out in front of that alka seltzer lava lamp.

    That’s a yamaha SHS-10!!!

  • str1cken

Keyboard cat had lived unnoticed on the internet for years until it was mixed with failure footage. Neither the cat, nor the keyboard, is what makes keyboard cat exciting or interesting, rather the juxtaposition of the KC footage with fail footage.

Mr. Schmidt clearly demonstrates his failure to understand the appeal of the original with this “new” keyboard cat.

This video exudes Mr. Schmidt’s desperation to be famous. With all the KC meme variations that went unsigned, ‘unauthored’, so to speak, Mr. Schmidt’s name is plastered all over this video and the youtube page where it lives, as if to say: OH MY GOD I WANT TO BE FAMOUS SO BAD I’M GIVING MYSELF A NOSEBLEED.

    • bmcraec

Hear, hear! Much more direct and to the point than my original post; context is EVERYTHING, all though I wonder if Mr. Schmidt is actually the Svengali behind this? Oh, the lawsuits could fly over this one!

He has the spirit of jazz in him…

This is what I do, I sit on you, sit on you, sit on you. Right on your cat.

  • Manooshi

    Awww. Too cute.

  • bmcraec

Oh, it’s cute and all, but I’m thinking that the true spirit of Keyboard cat has become, how do you say, corrupted by the corporate influence. Doesn’t anyone else feel the over-produced essence to this video? I mean, c’mon, we can see the puppet master’s arm going who knows where!

And what about the smug knowingness of this impostor cat, fully aware of the sinister sources of corporate spin-meisters pushing their agenda?

That poor cat. Sure, he thinks it’s all about him, but as soon as the wave of publicity subsides, he’ll be out in some back alley, a paper bag of catnip clutched in one paw, muttering to himself that “I used to be a star!” In your dreams, buddy. In your dreams.

Damn you Antinous, now I have to Google that!

  • InsertFingerHere

Thanks to Teh Internets, I’ve seen things I could have never imagined as a child.

I was thinking the other day, about the very first time a cat chased a laser pointer. What was the cat’s name? No one knows, because no one cares. Yet for cat-kind, this was the most mind-blowing encounter they had ever known.

  • paulj

This is catnip for the haters, but let’s be honest: it’s a pawthetically bad video. And the human manipulating the cat? Catastrophic! How would any self-respecting feline allow this?

    • holtt

paulj, something about your post just rubs me the wrong way.

    • bmcraec

      I can feel a crusade brewing…

  • Felton

You’re purrfectly welcome to cats aspurrsions on this vid, but ocelot of vitriol for something so catpricious. ;-)

  • ashabot

Yay! Keyboard Cat is back. I love the cat but, while nicely done, the melody misses the point. Oh well.

    • fatuousplatitudes

@ MrJM: funniest thing I’ve read on BB for ages; of course you have to be the right age to appreciate it…

    • Pantograph

We built this kitty on Rock and Roll!

      • Felton

Don’t you want some kitty to love?

    • bmcraec

Hmmm. I can sort of see that direction, but I don’t think the equation works. They’re not the same cats, after all. It’s more like “Be Kind, Rewind” except without the joy. And Starship, while not Airplane, wasn’t an attempt to steal anyone’s thunder.

  • Gainclone

    Apple Loops much?

  • DisneyBoy

I would need stitches on my hands and arms if I tried that with either of my cats.

  • dodongo

    Technically that’s keytar cat!

    • Shelby Davis

I noticed that too! Always wanted a SHS.

At least it’s more authentic then Die Antwoord. I kid, I kid!

    NOT. NOT. NOT.

Way more hokey. Way less personable.

Doesn’t come even remotely close to the brilliance of CATcerto by Mindaugas Piecaitis and Nora The Piano Cat:
