Artist Jason LaFerrera makes wildlife collages out of old maps. His first show is coming up in Richmond, VA, and he's posted some samples of the material he'll be showing, along with some limited run prints on Etsy.

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

My friend Ashley also makes collages with maps. Her creatures are magnificent:

At first, I read “Wildlife made from college maps.” You know, those indecipherable campus maps with frustrating and arbitrary codes for all the buildings? Or have I just had bad luck with the colleges and universities I’ve attempted to navigate?

Hehe, anyway, this is really cool.

I’ve got some old maps made from collaged wildlife if anyone’s interested.

Have you ever considered becoming a cartographer Cory? It’s an awful lot of fun, and their is open source mapping software.
