Miss Ticklenot (shown here) is one of several new steampunk figurines from Mauser Earth, 5cm high (1/35 scale). The whole collection is just terrific, and would make a great addition to your tabletop conquest-map of Europe or your carefully arranged desk-toy shrine.

MAUSER EARTH (via Super Punch)

Previously:
  • Steampunk Star Wars modded action figures -- woah!
  • Steampunk robot wedding-cake topper

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

Cool-looking figures, but that SmartMax page has a lot of expired links.

I found some background info on the “Mauser Earth” setting on this “A Victorian Uchronia” blog, in the left column, near the bottom. Looks like a world where WW1 went on for decades, and also I think there’s contact with aliens. The aliens might explain the weird organic-looking thing the woman has her hand stuck into.

  • Grey Devil

Really nifty figurines. I really like the robot ones.

  • jdgiotta

Remind me again why this is considered steampunk?

    • Daemon

Because she’s dressed in Victorian clothing, and has goggles around her neck.

Though in my mind, the obviously organic weapon would tend to suggest it’s something a little off from traditional steampunk.

  • Gold Penguin

Yeah, Smog has a bit of steampunk, bit of occult, bit of aliens, bit of faeries etc.

I think smog1888.com explains it all nicely.

Minor point of order: the figure above is not from the ‘Mauser Earth’ collection, but rather the ‘Smog’ collection, a different game entirely (though of a similar flavor).

  • Crashproof

    Smog is arguably steampunk+aliens+fantasy.

    Mauser Earth is maybe dieselpunk?

  • Anonymous

To be more precise, Miss Ticklenot is from SmartMax’s Smog line. Mauser Earth is more of an alternate WW1 setting. Whereas Smog is an alternate Victorian London with steampunk and occult weirdness.
