    5318008 > 58008

      58008.618

      But interestingly, 55378008 < 5318008.

      Another I remember from my childhood: 710.77345, 37816173, 317.37818, ll345663, 3631538, 53704.304…

Though I’m not one who 53553580 over this stuff. Honest.

      • atomix

Wow. With dedication like that, 58008 must be your only opportunity to see them, huh?

I always did 55378008, but 58008 and 5318008 work too!

    “For your competency
We have reviewed the functions that a calculator should have. This product can be an encouraging partner to satisfy all your needs.”

This site is full of wonderfully awkward Japanese translations.

  • Phil85

This calculator looks nice but i do like this gimicky water powered calculator that I saw.

  • Anonymous

    That’s an expensive calculator. $76!!

  • LILemming

In a similar vein, I’d love to find a US vendor for these:

Urk, sorry, I mean the LED version

Any calculator worthy of my attention must have the following buttons: AND, XOR, OR, NOT, factorial, AshiftL, AshiftR, Rotate, and A through F. It must have the ability to change the register width, and it must be able to display in binary, hex, octal or decimal at the touch of a button. It must be able to calculate 1′s and 2′s complements. It must NOT have any useless crap like trig functions, graphing, or “scientific” notation. Programmability is not required.

Oh, wait, there’s only one calculator ever made that was like that.

    Now that’s beautiful!

I tried using an old calculator like this at work — it looked so cool — but I forgot how much solar technology had progressed since then. It would barely function outside of direct sunlight.

  • Tek3D

Oh, I can’t understand the meaning of the picture until reading your comments :)

  • Dewi Morgan

    I meant “interestingly, 55378008 < 5318008″, sorry (darn filter).

  • xf6211

I was very much up for purchasing one of these with all possible expediency. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem you can buy them through the site. :(

    Sex-deprived NEEEEEERRRDZ!

    • The Chemist

I’d be offended, but I’ll need you to spell that out for me on a TI-83 without using the ALPHA button, first.

  • The Chemist

Ah, I remember 55378008. Hilarious though it was, I remember thinking to myself, “Who the fuck thought that one up?”

I just which more basic calculators like this had the factorial function and better memory. It’d make it easier for people who know how to calculate things like sines, logarithms and other wacky functions, but don’t need a big honking calculator to do it.

This is what google is for. Ridiculous example: search

speed of light * planck constant / radius of jupiter * sin(pi/4) /6!

      • The Chemist

May I acquaint you with Wolfram Alpha? And the specific heat capacity of chicken?

  • That Evening Sun

Hey! If you were to turn that calculator upside down, it would say “BOOBS”.

    Haha. BOOBS. Haha.

    • mdh

      hahah BOOBS hahah

  • Michael Smith

I wonder how many people today understand why the plus key is bigger than the others?

  • spike55151

I do this every time I photograph a calculator!

  • gregnnn

Don’t miss the cautions at the bottom of the product page.

At first glance of the image I thought it was a screengrab of an iPad app. I wish it was.

maybe it is just me, but the geometry of that picture seems to be that sort of optical illusion as in the tramtracks (one line seems longer than the other but in fact is equal):
the calculator (to me) looks off-center. but it is perfectly in the center.
the calculator looks a bit askew. but in fact it is totally parallel to the sides.

    or am i wrong?
