I first caught a DJ Kutmah set just a few months ago here in LA, then saw him open for Erykah Badu, and have since seen his name pop up with increasing frequency in tweets from Flying Lotus and other local beat/grime/dublab scenesters. And it was from those tweets I learned that armed federal agents recently charged into Kutmah's home in LA, arrested him, and shipped him off to a detention center in New Mexico because of complications surrounding his immigration status.
