Portland's Mona Kate plays roller derby and makes excellent vegan vinyl wallets that are just $14 in the Boing Boing Bazaar/Makers Market. I'm fond of the bold Keyboard and Ouija designs, but there are more than two dozen other options including robots, kittens, fixie bikes, circuit boards, pin-ups, skull and cross bones, and, of course, several rollerskate graphics. Be sure to check out the OG rad wallets from Portland. This guy was here first!

db clay made some really great wallets too. i was sad when they went under — the black-on-black damask pattern wallet i got from them is downright perfect – and makes my friends jealous.

I agree with brewcaster. Tinymeat originated this style of wallet, and his stuff features bad ass illustrations by great artists. Gotta go with the best! http://www.etsy.com/shop/tinymeat

Vinyl is some pretty nasty stuff indeed. For more information I highly recommend the film, “Blue Vinyl” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303307/

    OOH! These are snazzy!

    “vegan vinyl”?

    Wha?

You’d think, that with all the news about BP, vegans everywhere would be running in the other direction from anything manufactured from crude oil.

Leather doesn’t look so bad now, eh?

  • Jonathan Badger

What exactly is vegan vinyl? Is it just a clever name for vinyl made by some “green” process? Vinyl isn’t normally made from animal products (oil isn’t dead dinosaurs, despite the myth).

I’ve been wanting to do something with a Ouija board theme but I figured I had to design a somewhat similar, but original, Ouija bard design.

Are there any public domain designs available?

    • jfrancis

Actually, same question for Tarot, while I’m asking.

US Games publishes most of the common Tarot decks like Rider-Waite, so I assume that they own the rights. A lot of people design and self-publish decks. Some of them might not be averse to some cross-marketing.

I finally got around to watching a film from the ’80s called ‘Santa Sangre’ and was curious to find out more about the director. Apparently Jodorowsky has some connection to refreshing or revamping some famous old Tarot deck. Google has much info on the matter.

In the vein of neat wallets I would recommend http://www.dynomighty.com/
Some of them have pretty nifty looking designs.
