From the department of unsourced photographic Internet literalisms, an adobe photo-shop.

Adobe Photoshop, Literally

  • Best Superbowl photo ever
  • Funny doctored science fair photos
  • Funny Will Elder photo
  • Funny news photo from 2004
  • iPhone + EFF + ATT + NSA = funny photo
  • Unintentional TB humor
  • Funny phallic photo

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

    Stucco, not adobe.

  • Harrkev

That is definitely Seven Falls, a beautiful waterfall (seven waterfalls?) in Colorado Springs, CO. That building to the right is the gift shop/food shop.

Nice place to visit. However, North Cheyenne Canyon park is about 2 miles away, almost as beautiful, and free.

  • Dan

I was just at Seven Falls last week. The dynamic range of this place is a-maz-ING!

  • xzzy

So when does Adobe the software company go after the adobe building for trademark infringement?

Cheap knockoff version of Photoshop, all facade and no features… .yeah, it’s the GIMP!

  • uglyredhonda

Definitely not Disney. Disney wouldn’t use a generic product like Sketch Express (the photobooth machine) – they’d develop their own version, and market it with Disney characters.

Plus, the rock formation behind the Photo Shop would be the third tallest mountain in Florida. ;)

  • Roger Critchlow

Definitely not adobe, stucco over frame to judge by the sharpness of the corner and the thinness of the walls.

    • Anonymous

I agree, it doesn’t look like real adobe. This mimics adobe photo shop, which makes it actually Gimp.

  • Ceronomus

Disney World, in Adventureland just past PotC. The facade on it has changed since this picture was taken.

this looks like Bandelier National monument in New Mexico

whether or not it is adobe can not be determined by the sharp edges. I remember two guys that could make any treatment you wanted with mud plaster. In fact, after they drove through a mud puddle (repeatedly), they were able to get a finish that held the shape they wanted on their pickup truck.

I don’t remember ever seeing that truck without a mud paint job ever again…

  • nanuq

This adobe photo shop was around first. They can sue the other guys for copyright violations and make real money.

  • gATO

Now, Boing Boing, to be fair, you have to post real images of the open source alternatives, like the GIMP. Oh, wait…

This is at Seven Falls near Colorado Springs, CO.
It is real and not faked using image manipulation software.

  • Anonymous

Does the park have to shut down everytime I have to start/close it? Do I have to maybe shut the other rides and stores down just so this photoshop can run more smoothly? :P

  • skeletoncityrepeater

As an Arizonan I can tell you this is most probably a brick or sheetrock building with fake support beams and painted stucco. However, I also lived for a couple years in an adobe apartment in Tucson with stucco walls, so the two things aren’t mutually exclusive. This little photo shop is definitely not actual adobe, because the walls would be MUCH thicker. Therefore..
This looks like a faux-adobe photo shop. I can tell from some of the walls, and from having seen quite a few adobes in my time…

  • Antinous / Moderator

    Just look at it.

  • robulus

Fake. You can tell by the pixels.

  • Anonymous

Oh predictable replies, where would we be without you.

  • jackie31337

Yes, this is definitely a photo shop. I can tell from having seen quite a few photo shops.

    • Zergonapal

Ha! Win in four posts, this commetary is over :)

I wonder if they sell Flash [bulbs]??

  • Brainspore

That’s a nice little town, if you walk across the nearby Adobe Bridge you can see a mural painted by an Adobe Illustrator. They recently put on a great Premiere of an Acrobat show, though my eyes hurt so much from the After Effects of a Fireworks Flash that I had to lay down in my Suite.

  • OriGuy

Does it take five minutes to open up, like the Photoshop on my computer?

    • Not a Doktor

And when it closes for the night does the building crash apart like my comp?

  • Anonymous

99% sure this is from Disney World. . .

(Digging through my pictures to verify)

    • devophill

I’d imagine that if it was, Cory would know (Disney park fan that he is). Also, wouldn’t there be a Kodak logo someplace? What do I know, though. Keep digging!

Reading through the comments here, it amazes me that so many people find it necessary to question the validity of the photo. Is it faked? It is real adobe? Who the hell cares! It’s funny, given the caption, and isn’t that all that matters?

    Give it a rest, guys!

  • Anonymous

Can someone explain the adobe part for me. I must be missing something.

    • Anonymous

Adobe: a building made of natural clay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe HTH, HAND :)

  • CC

To be honest, those logs look chopped.

    • Itsumishi

Interesting fact, the logs were originally chopped to be made into battering rams that have now been re-purposed.

      Seems they’re leaking…

  • Anonymous

Hey guys, I live in this shop and am a photograph. It is real adobe and I would appreciate you not making fun of me.

  • Anonymous

    I lol’d!

And I can’t be 100% sure but this seriously looks like it’s at Canada’s Wonderland.
