I have a Facebook account but I hardly ever check it. I just took a peek at the hundreds of messages waiting for me, and saw that one of them was from Spike Priggen of Bedazzled!, who wrote in April,

So you posting that Supercute video got them on a big tour opening for Kate Nash!
Yippee!

Here's a recent video by "New York City's teen-indie-bubblegum-pop sensation."

@1 I bet that Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players touring with Kate Nash in the past also had something to do with Supercute! getting the gig…

  • Drinking the well

Combined they would make the perfect woman! Or actually I think individually they would be execptionally awesome as wel.

    I think I’m in love…

The middle girl is in fact Rachel Trachtenberg of the Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players, who’s been performing indie pop with her parents since she was in shortpants. Glad to see she’s creating an identity independent of her folks.

I am somewhat curious why it seems the Asian girl got almost no solo screentime while the other two are prominently featured. Luck of the draw?

  • ZippySpincycle

Big grin–and is it just me, or does anyone else think they sound a little like the Roches?

    • lewis stoole

my first thought was the movie band, the stains/the fabulous stains, but the roches i see too.

Yeah, the Asian girl was definitely edited out.

the tall girl has the best voice, is her name julie? and the boy is cute and has his own videos if you look him up – jack skuller. they are all best friends i bet. totally hear the roches here!

I was actually surprised how smart these girls are. (The tall one is 14! And the asian one is only 13, so cut her some slack! Cripes!)

Check out their myspace. Their tunes and lyrics are superior to most bands, nevermind how young they are.

June, the asian girl, comes from a very strict family and is just starting to come out of her shell I think.

And you’ve got to SEE their cover of Pink Floyd’s “Pigs”. The video on youtube stinks.

I’d also like to know. I assumed that she can’t sing very well, but that’s based on my observation that she doesn’t move as well as the other two girls. She seems far more restrained.

But this kind of sabotages the act for me – one lead and two backs with perhaps only one line each would look okay to me, also if all three got the same screen time. But this way it felt a little unbalanced too me.

(Has anyone got the text, by the way? I’m bad at understanding German lyrics, it’s even worse with English.)

  • Barry Wilson

Digging around YouTube, I found a pile of Pink Floyd covers, both bye Supercute! themselves ( Pigs ( Three Different Ones ) and by Rachel with her Family. ( Focused on Syd Barret, mostly. Gnome, Bike, and Efforvescing Elephant )
