Apple's holding a press conference
tomorrow regarding the iPhone 4. Everyone expects it to be about the antenna flaws recently
detailed by Consumer Reports. Though some expect
freebie cases or even a recall,
Gruber submits that
Apple's never held a press conference except to announce new products. This can only mean one thing.
Update:
Jason Nolasco already cut this slice of fake: He
sold a roll on eBay! (via

Kevin Kidney owns a couple of audio-animatronic birds from the Enchanted Tiki Room, the first Disney showcase for robotic animals, still running and glorious today — he’s decided to make them good as new, and is documenting his process.
This looks like it could come in handy – the Jackery Jewel is a MFU-certified Lightning-to-USB charging cable with a built-in 450 mAh battery. It’s $16 on Amazon with promo code JERJEWEL. I just ordered one.
Really, Thinkgeek’s $150 Star Trek White Noise Sleep Machine does it all: projects a moving starfield on your ceiling, plays starship-like white noise loops while you drift off, presents a goofily plausible UI and form-factor straight out of the Roddenverse, and can even play the red alert klaxon as its alarm-tone.

Also I heard that Apple testers have a new blog called iFail
I am a mandroid with perforated steel hands that unfortunately act as signal-blocking faraday cage whenever I make a call. Will this tape help?
Sorry, those colors just aren’t trendy enough.
The guy who won the auction didn’t want the actual tape, he just wanted to donate. There’s good people out there.
So technically, I didn’t sell a roll of anything really. :)
It’s pretty bad when you make a luxury phone in the market’s highest price bracket that requires a two year contract commitment, and it can’t even make calls right. I get mad when I buy something cheap that doesn’t work as described, I can only imagine how livid I’d be if I shelled out the big bucks for an iphone and committed to two years of paying through the nose each month for service, only to find out that it couldn’t make the same calls the $20 no-commitment prepaid phone can make.
Maybe Apple is getting a little too caught up in the idea of making something that looks good and has a lot of extra features, and missing the fact that the number one overidingly important thing people do with their phones is make calls. If it doesn’t make calls, it’s a bad product. Extras only come into play *after* the basic functionality is there. The only equivalent I can think of is an ipod that crashes whenever it plays music — but, gee, you can sure run that farting ap really well.
I think Apple is playing with fire here. A lot of the reason people pay extra for Apple products is because they “just work” and have a great ease of use. If they lose that reputation, it puts a big dent in their whole business model. And I’d say a phone that loses it’s signal and drops calls when it’s held a certain way is a step in that direction. I was shocked to read that they knew about this and didn’t correct it before it hit the market and won’t do something to correct it now. Whatever money they might have lost delaying release or paying for a fix for people is going to be dwarfed in the long-run by the money they lose due to their damaged reputation for reliability and ease of use.
Looks like plain ol’ spiking tape, in the pic. If it’s for sale then Apple must be nearly ready for the next act.
$30 for a “Bumper”/rubber band case was a huge rip off to begin with. I think they’ll include one with every phone now and offer some kind of rebate to everybody else.
AT&T has also had some time to bring in new customers/lock in existing users for another 3 years – between that and the recent screw-ups, I’d say it’s the perfect time to announce a 2nd carrier.
Pretty sure they’re going to own up to the issue this time, and offer a favorable solution:

They’ve been dancing around this for too long, and I think they’ve realized it.
OK – the Daily Mail has the details of the Apple announcement – new core solves the problem:

I so fell for this. Win. I already had my “Red core? They’re installing an S2 engine?!” joke ready, too. <--FAIL. Nice work.
My iPhone tongs should be hitting the market soon.
