It's on all the time with a CFL and casts beautiful shadows around the room. I really love it. Curious Customs makes some really amazing stuff. Definitely check out the rest of their lamps, and chat with them. They do custom work, they do awesome work, and they just rock in general. I'm working on plans for a couple custom outdoor lamps that I'm going to commission from them. I can't recommend their work enough. I have one of these in my living room.
