X Rays are FAR too overused in contemporary art to have any edge or impact.

Same 'ol. Same 'ol.

Try a different material or, at the very least, a unique configuration.

I've had about 50-60 x-rays sitting in a bag for close to four years now with the intention of doing this.

I no longer work at the radiology lab where I got to take slightly over or under exposed x-rays home (providing I cut off the personal identifying names and birthdates first) but they're still sitting in the bag...

I also had the idea of collecting various x-rays that including artificial things inside the bodies (pace makers, replacement hips, pins holding breaks together, etc) until I had enough to make a whole bionic man then build light box to hold it together.

I had built up about half the person when I got the sack unfortunately.

The pacemakers were definitely the coolest looking thing to x-ray though, circuitry shows up really nicely. That and barium enemas which light up the whole lower intestine track.... yummo.

Film negative manufacture of any type is dying out.

Dismissive statements such as "that's nothing" are rendered by nothing minds.

You should be able to stop by your local hospital's radiology department and ask. Even though we are digital, we have film printers. Also look for any clinics or imaging centers. A veterinary office could be an interesting place to ask as they generally use older equipment.

Donna Brady of Re-Surface does graffiti lamp shades. She sells them at Trunk in Dumbo, Brooklyn. I think she also has an Etsy shop as well. We saw them at Apartment Therapy.

I have worked with an artist in the past that does some very interesting things with recycled MRI and X-Ray sheets.
