Frequent traveler and photobuff Ron Brinkmann just returned from Venezuela, where local stencil graffiti caught his attention. Here's a Flickr set of some of the works he spotted. It lacks the space alien-ness of some of the stuff I've found in Los Angeles, but it's still very cool.

One of my favorite pieces of graffiti of all time was in Prague, with a hand grenade for a head over the mailbox: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24665730@N02/4884422760/

I saw that same “Revolucion” graffiti in Colombia a few months ago.

Here’s 3 more stencils in the same vein, shots taken in Chiapas, Mexico.

That’s one way to keep your partisans on message.

This must be one of those regressive incarnations of the standard progression, like where the man in the business suit turns into Seth Rogen at the end.

The second to last guy looks like he’s carrying a baguette, whereas the last guy has no viable capital or rule of law and has to parade in the streets. Via la revolucion.

Indeed. After the guy with the flag, the whole thing runs in reverse, except the next guy can only wish he *had* a baguette.

Aaand there’s my new band name.
