JenG sez, "NBC4 offers a few great pictures of Columbus College of Art & Design students playing with this interactive 8-bit mural. The mural depicts classic moments from Super Mario Bros., positioned without Mario or Luigi so passers-by can hop into level 1-1."

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

If this is interactive, so is every other mural in existence. But now I have an idea for my next Halloween driveway game: Mario Bros!

Just you wait Boing Boing, there will be an interactive version of this.

    • marilove

So you … interact with most murals? Except … not.

To explain to the fuddy duddies: The people pictured with the mural are — get this — interacting with the mural. There for it’s — and this is amazing, really — an interactive mural.

See how that works? When you interact something, it becomes interactive! Amazing.

  • nosarembo

The mural encourages you to pretend-use the various objects in the scene. Ie, you are interacting with the mural.

Go suck the fun outta something else, grinches.

FYI… the mural has been ATTACKED by King Boo!

    Dear girl in red shirt:

Mario/Luigi do not hit bricks with their head. They raise they little pixelated fist up into the air as they jump and hit the brick with their fist.

    Live action mural mario!

Dear jerk whose name is Anon. Who cares.

Misleading headline. There is nothing interactive about it at all. In fact it is a true mural: It’s just painted on the wall.

definitely, by far, the most awesome thing i have ever seen on boing boing!

  • archanoid

I can understand what those saying it’s not interactive mean. You’re not truly interacting with the mural. That being said, I live in Columbus and am now planning to take my kids to see this mural and get photos of us pretending to be in the scene this weekend. My youngest son is a HUGE Mario fan and will freaking LOVE it!

    Awesome!
