It may be worth noting that chemical extraction of compounds from cannabis is still illegal under the California Health and Safety Code, Section 11379.6(a). It's common, and generally not prosecuted, but still not legal.

Medical marijuana is just not credible as long as stuff like this goes on. I like pot as much as the next person, but the dealing of a "medical" product is far to much like just getting ripped legally.

The only way I've come close to thinking I'm "overdosing" on weed is when I eat it. Maybe I should do a better job of filtering the cannabis butter and being more patient in the 45 minute to 2 hour "time release" but then it's fun to take a giant eraser (http://www.greatbigstuff.com/eraser.html) to the day once in a while.

(I hope the Chef's individual serving size is maximized to small village sized measurements).

Only time I was high from easting weed was as I was leaving the USVI. I forgot that I had about three grams (pre-stemmed) of the best bud I had ever had in my pocket. Right in front of the row of customs officials, I choked it down with a bit of water.

Two hours later I was sooooo high...

Mashed potatos may be better than HFCS, but aside from sugars they're about the worst carbs for a diabetic - their glucose index is very high, meaning they're digested very rapidly.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else have problems with the whole concept of "designer gourmet medicine" ???

As regards the CA "extraction law" -- If you set fire to the plant, that's "extraction."

Umm.. You can't get high off of eating raw green. It has to be cooked with a fat (usually butter) for the right chemical reaction.. Sorry! Placebo effects are fun however. Sucks you wasted that great bud.

Heating is _highly_ recommended to melt the tiny, sharp spines that cover almost all of the plant. Otherwise, you may cause serious damage to your digestive system.

Not that I don't believe you, but everything I've read says you have to heat cannabis (either by cooking, smoking or "vaporizing") to activate the compounds.

Amazon.com... plenty of recipe books already...most anything you can think of... It may be in how to books...how to grow..., having extra info on making cooking oils etc. . The Internet has it all, not hard to find.
Being a chef and understanding the science behind cooking and the science behind cannabis, putting those together, will help you tremendously. There are many different strains and flavors, so this opens up a wide variety of spices (cannabis). Just like salt, onions, garlic, pepper etc, . your going to have to know what kind of flavor (strain, cannabis) that you are going to use to bring out the flavor of the strain and dish you are making. This could add up to lots of money. Good Luck! Also check with where it is legal....Amsterdam, The Netherlands

I hate the super expensive, prettily arranged mini plates of food, pot or not pot.

You could saute some in twenty five cents worth of olive oil and put it on a salad if you didn't want to eat it in sweets.

I'm doubting the veracity of part of the story, but it's the bit about the friend's diabetic mother getting high from the corn syrup. Her blood sugar may have gone up, but that doesn't make you feel intoxicated.
