I recognize Forbush Man (from Marvel's 60s humor comic, "Not Brand Echh!"), with a D instead of an F. And "here come Sin-Doll-Ella, friend of all us animals" in the Ten-Uh-See one (Wally Wood would have seen the humor of being swiped from, with his immense swipe file and advice to young cartoonists). I just wonder what other source materials I don't recognize in these.

A wonderful outpouring of primal wit from the collective subconscious. To think I scorned CBers just because they used to drive into town and stop at the light by my house and have to get on the hammer and tell the world about it.

Oh, and of course "My linear is..." is from a classic bit of ditto/mimeo/photocopier/fax/email art. "Boston Blackie" looks like a redrawn gag postcard (with a rather Seuss-influenced statue in the back). The couple pogo-humping could easily be from an issue of "Sex to Sexty."

I read a great book last year, sort of a biography of a man told by the QSL cards he collected. Hello World: A Life in Ham Radio by Danny Gregory (http://www.librarything.com/work/478030) Lots of card art from all over the world.

CB radios are still very useful, especially up in our cottage country, where there's no phones, and people are often out and about on their boats, for organizing dinners, etc.

Here's a rockin' song for the CB people:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EHkI8wybfk&NR=1

And here's an old 1970s era amateur CB song, by and for those "CB-ers":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbiLrB3cmXs

Finally, some CB slang to help you when you decide to turn on and tune in:

Over and out.

This is great. I had no idea there was a form of art based on some sort of semi-obsolete land based radio communications.

Now that I know this, I'm immensely fascinated by it.

This truly is a directory of wonderful things.

Awesome design on these "anti-design" cards.

Makes me wonder if structure and order are always more effective tools for communication than sheer, entertaining anarchy.
