Nerdcore hero MC Frontalot's new album is coming soon (along with a wide-ranging US tour) and he's celebrating with this single and accompanying video on YouTube: Spoiler Alert, which contains enough spoilers to ruin your whole life.

Zero Day

  • MC Frontalot's Final Boss: nerdcore par excellence
  • MC Frontalot's First World Problem: "deep nerdcore and a wee bit ...
  • Free Frontalot/JoCo single: "Diseases of Yore:"
  • Video for Frontalot's nerdcore song about Zork
  • New MC Frontalot nerdcore album
  • Bizarro Genius Baby -- latest MC Frontalot nerdcore video - Boing ...
  • CNN "geek anthem" post is implausibly similar to scrappy blogger's ...

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

sounds as cheesy as lucas with the lid off.

    • esophus

Oh shit! Lucas with the lid off…..lolololololol. I thought the same fucking thing. The only thing good about that video was Michel Gondry’s direction.

  • Katy

I don’t think I will ever understand his appeal, and I say this as someone who’s had to sit through his act to listen to the other acts at PAX. :\

The best part of that is “If you’re a countdown, look out for zero.”

Followed by “If you haven’t all already apologized/peek-a-boo’s a game it’s a trick of the eyes/not a bending of reality itself/spoiler for infants: adults use stealth.”

  • RandomAccuracy

Not to be one who spoils, but Zero Day has been out since April. I like his choppy execution… but I’ve been a fan since SongFight.

  • pushmonk

    http://www.mcchris.com/ is my comment.

  • arikol

    coming soon? already out!
I received mine a few weeks ago sent to Sweden with tiny scribble from the man himself.

Zero Day has been out for awhile, I’ve had the album for months.

Still, it is awesome and I’m glad to see it pimped on BoingBoing.

  • TimmoWarner

I am also a huge MC Frontalot fan.

I will also say, Zero Hour is far from my favourite album by him, but still good stuff I find much more interesting than 99% of mainstream rap.

Secrets From the Future and Nerdcore Rising are much more fun albums in my opinion.

  • jamiethehutt

Well I though MC Frontalot’s vocals weren’t up to much but the girl was really good. Frontalot should just do the music and get her to sing…

    • pato pal ur

who is that female vocalist? Her voice is so familiar but I can’t place where I may have heard her before…

  • wnoise

There are a number of people who hate spoilers — beth there are also a fair number that appreciate them, and are more likely to enjoy a work if they have some idea of what’s going on and what will happen.

  • bleh.fu

I thought it was Feist for a second, but the vocals turn out to be Molly Hager.

    • pato pal ur

cheers, I was also thinking of Feist. I like her though.

  • Avram / Moderator

The chorus vocals are credited to Jane Silence and Molly Hager.

    • Church

No, you’re looking at the credits for the title track, “Zero Day.”

The credit for backing vocals on this track is “Chorus vocal: Molly Hager”

  • Church

How could they not tack on “Everyone’s a Critic?”

Beefy – So what did you guys think?
STD – I think that was not a good movie.
Front – Wrong! It ruled. My new all-time favorite movie ever.
Beefy – How could you possibly like that?
    STD – Just awful.
Front – It was a little effects-heavy, but a very smart script. Well acted. Plausible.
Beefy – It was a preposterous film.
    STD – Abysmal.
Beefy – It was assinine. It was… other big words for ‘bad.’
STD – I want my fourteen bucks back!
Front – You didn’t pay for the ticket.
Beefy – I don’t know why I saw it two times before this.

  • jamiethehutt

Yep it is Molly Hager and having listened to more of her stuff I can say she really is awesome!

  • simonbarsinister

I too was thinking she sounds like Feist. She has that odd cadence that reminds me of Feist, Regina Spektor, and a little bit of Jem.
