I am a big fan of Democracy Now and Amy Goodman. From what I can see here this raid is an abominable abuse of power by the FBI, consistent with a broader rolling back of rights in the US and the around the world (by the way, I live in Thailand where the military/palace collective regime appears to be the the early, but severe stages of a program of repression).

However, Rashid Khalidi does not appear to be an anti-war activist. He seems to be a huge supporter of Arab community development in Chicago, and expert of the Middle East and, perhaps a Palestinian rights activist.

This may sound like a trivial point, but it is not. Two wrongs don't make a right. And anti-war activist is just a lazy buzzwords that publications with political opinions use to manipulate readers. It is code for "a guy on our team".

I will note that your link Sol_Power got the description right and Amy appears to be just passing the mistake on.

For a moment I was worried that <a href="http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,20061225,00.html">I was the one in trouble!</a>

The usual reminder X of the years is, who, according to Time Magazine, "for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year."

But what about history books?

When Time Person of the Year 1938 violated the Time Person of the Year 1938-Time Person of the Years 1939 and 1942 pact, Time Person of the Years 1939 and 1942 allied himself with the Time Persons of 1940 and 1941.

Plus, it all happend in 1941, doubling the confusion.

Thanks to 2006, I think that "Time Person of the Year" should be added to ALL stories. E.g.:

Time Person of the Year of 2006 Sol_Power sez, "On Friday, Time People Of The Year of 2006 in the FBI raided the homes of activists involved in the peace, Palestinian solidarity, and Labor movements. This comes four days after the DoJ Inspector General and Time Person of the Year of 2006 issued a report that soundly criticized the FBI for four years of targeting domestic groups. The Time People of the Year of 2006 at Democracy Now have good coverage including interviews with two victims and Coleen Rowley, an FBI whistle-blower and was Time person of the year in 2002, four years earlier than the other victims."

Cory, ckhartman is right, Rowley wasn't arrested. Can you change the title of the post?

She did have some cool insights into the workings of the FBI though.

Dude, you think THAT'S going to be the problem in the history books?

In a few days, I'm going to the marriage of Time Person of the Year 2006 and Time Person of the Year 2006, taking Time Person of the Year 2006 as my date. We plan on meeting up with Time Person of the Year 2006 afterward and going out to a local coffee shop run by Time Person of the Year 2006.

I wasn't going to bring up Time Person of the Years 1939 and 1942 at risk of violating Time Person of the Year 2006's Law.

<blockquote>Democracy Now has good coverage including interviews with two victims and Coleen Rowley, an FBI whistle-blower and was Time person of the year in 2002."</blockquote>

Democracy Now is the last mass media TV outlet left if you want to get informed inside the United States' corporate iron curtain. Why not give them a <a href="http://www.democracynow.org/get_involved/donate">donation</a>? It's the only way they'll survive without advertisers.
