Via the Submitterator, Boing Boing reader qubitsu tells us:
My friends got married on Sunday, and the groom is a serious Star Trek fan. Our cake-baking friend made him an edible bust of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and the rest is history.

“My friends got married on Sunday, and the groom is a serious Star Trek fan. Our cake-baking friend made him an edible bust of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and the rest is history. Terrifying history. I haven’t slept a wink since the moment…I…laid…eyes…on…that. Tasty, though.”

  • Tony Moore

this cake is squarely in the Uncanny Valley. i’d want to hit it with a shovel to make sure it was dead before i ate it.

Kennewick Man looks more like Picard, but this cake is still frelling COOL!

    Resistance is futile!

  • Sasha @ Global Table Adventure

He looks rather uncomfortable being kissed by the bride and groom. That being said, the concept is epic.

As long as you drink Earl Grey, hot, I guess …

    Resistance Is Futile!

Hey, my submitterator made it! Though the “gulture” link/attribution is wrong; it should be attrib’d to “qubitsu” linked to this:

…And if you think the cake is creepy, then you’ll be pleased to know that the bride and groom saved the head and plan to eat it on their first anniversary:

      Tastes like mint.

      • johnmcorg

Only the frosting tastes like mint.

  • BookGuy

This is clearly awesome, although I think I would have had trouble gouging a knife into Captain Picard’s head and scooping out his brains to eat, no matter how deliciously moist said brains may be.

  • Felton / Moderator

    “Bake it so!”

    • RedBloc

      Nicely done, Sir. First prize.

  • Ceronomus

Was this the wedding cake or the Groom’s cake? My groom’s cake was a 3′d pirate ship complete with pirates and cannons. We still had the nice, traditional, wedding cake though.

  • Quiche de Resistance

Wreck. That’s horrible. I like Star Trek and weird cakes but that just gives me the creeps. Looks like that biker from Weird Science.

Is it a sexy cake? (http://snltranscripts.jt.org/93/93lsexycakes.phtml)

  • Boba Fett Diop

Shouldn’t it have a picture of a woman going to the bathroom on it?

  • Master Pokes

I’m a pretty solid TNG fan…and even that didn’t prevent shivers from the creepyness of that cake…it really does favor Michael Berryman (the Weird Science biker). Don’t think it qualifies as a cake wreck simply because of the epicness of the idea…and I, personally, am totally down for eating brains from the skull of the Picard.

Came in to make a Sexy Cake joke – left satisfied.

We got married Sunday as well, but in the spirit of 10/10/10 being 42 in binary, we had a Don’t Panic cake made by a friend: http://ammy.fury.com/2010/10/dont-panic.html. It spells out Don’t Panic as a constellation in the stars!
