If you’ve never been to the giant dahlia garden, it’s really amazing. The flowers are huge and look like props from a 50s sci-fi movie. It’s a seasonal display, of course.

I wonder what it would take to make Segways look less ridiculous. Maybe if there was something for the rider to do other than look like they’re secretly receiving an enema.

Maybe its just that they’re so new. Makes me wonder if bicycles looked this silly when they were first invented.

Segways are silly because they don’t do anything that you don’t have a low-tech, low-cost, muscle-powered alternative for. Like a bike, or a skateboard, or rollerskates. Or shoes. Every time I see one, it reminds me of how much I love to ride my bicycle.

The best use of a Segway that I know of is Muppet Mobile Labs with Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, at Epcot. Because the thing is a Rube Goldberg contraption at heart.
