Matthias Wandel's rubber-band-powered Jenga Pistol brings an entirely new, nerdy delight to the staid old game of Jenga by using the rapid transfer of kinetic force to achieve seemingly impossible Jenga moves. He'll tell you how to make one (he also sells 'em).

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

For some reason I keep hearing Steve Carell from Date Night saying, “He turned it sideways, that’s a kill shot! Kill shot!”

Have two players with their own Jenga stacks and pistols, then have them compete for “quickest to shooting out the blocks, without the stack collapsing.” (also include good sportsmanship, like “no punching your opponent to force them to make a mistake and collapse their stack”) First one to shoot the last block w/o collapse wins! (now develop strategies and perfect your methods at playing quickly to increase the probability you’ll win future games…)

The other people in the room sure are blasé about the whole thing..
