Over at Sleepy City, an absolutely amazing photo essay of the Paris Metro including all the stations you probably know about, many you don't, and some that have not been accessed by the outside world for more than 50 years. The gallery includes shots of vacant trains sitting at many of these unused stations, including some of the original 1903 Spragues. I could look at photos like this all day long. (Thanks Harold!)

I love shit like this, it makes you wonder what’s under the streets you’re walking on. And it makes you wonder if *anyone* knows what’s in some of these hidden places, or if they’ve been entirely forgotten.

It would seem the server has pretty much melted. The flickr page is a consolation since it lacks the juicy details the proper site contains and photos from the metro exploits are spread over the period of time the entire undertaking took, rather then being conveniently located in one place with the text to tie them all together. Maybe tomorrow will prove better ;)

In 1958 at the FDR stop on the Paris Metro there was an amazing exibit of Van Gough paintings rendered ENTIRELY IN CHIPS OF COLORED GLASS! Ever brush stroke was a perfectly formulated color.
It was beyond stunning. I need to know, what happened to those magnificent reproductions? (Publisher…please help)

      Anon,
we never came across anything remotely matching that description in our travels. Contact ADEMAS (http://ademas.assoc.free.fr/index.htm) as off the top of my head they’re the most likely people to know.

Reminds me of the film Kontroll.

Looks like your coverage melted the servers over at Sleepy City. :D The redirect included a link to their Flickr page, which has some extra, just as awesome photos:

Wow. Those images would be great inspiration for post-apocalyptic horror novel writers. Or similar.
