Indiebass sez, "Today, World's Fair Use Day will return with another day-long celebration of remix culture, creativity and innovation. The second annual World's Fair Use Day will take place on January 13th, 2011 at the Washington Post Conference Center in downtown Washington D.C."
World's Fair Use Day 2011 kicks off starting at 9:30am (doors open at 9am)! If you're attending the event in person, click over to the schedule and location pages for logistical information and be sure to RSVP if you haven't already. If you can't make it to D.C. for the event, click here for the livestream (starts at 9:45am) and here to download the official WFUD program (PDF). And whether you're attending in person or following along at home, be sure to contribute to the Twitter backchannel at #WFUD. See you all tomorrow!

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

The livestream is fantastic. Since Cory and BB have gotten me all stirred up about these issues I’m glad to spend time watching the presentations.

I just hope this doesn’t get confused with World Fear Uncertainty and Doubt day.

Well played, sir! That’s exactly the comment I was going to write, although I was going to make sure it was attributed to the correct source, as I don’t want readers to think I was promoting the OTHER FUD.

Mind you, the salary of a PR black-ops troll sure would please my ex-wife…

Fair use and privacy issues will be at the forefront of policy for the foreseeable future. I hate to say it, but those of us that are not affiliated with the telecommunication corporations and goods manufactures, i.e., the vast majority of us, need stronger lobbying groups. I hate to play the game with the way its run, but you can’t win unless you play.

Remix culture has a nice ring to it.

For large part of the world, the day will already be over at that point.
    Time to rethink the strategy?
