Eurovision 2013: An American in London

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

Clearly the best speech she’s ever given.

  • jeepercreepers

    creepy

  • Patrick Dodds

    Woo, disturbing.

  • dekalbwriter

That was really, super scary. I only made it six seconds in before I had to make it stop.

  • Anonymous

i watched with sound off…looks like a slow petit mal

    • max

      petite mort?

  • mathdemon

    She’s about to say something.

  • Grognard

This reminds me a lot of the Tonight Show’s “Barack Obama “Uh” Count” segments.

  • travtastic

She really needs a better acting coach.

  • Ernunnos

She’s breathing now? Doesn’t she know that breathing is something euthanized puppies and kittens will never do again? Has she no shame?

  • Ohhhsnap

    I can’t… stop… twitching. Ugh.

  • allen

I’m really not a fan of Palin. Like, not at all. But there’s something… stalkerish… about this video. Is it criticism? Satire? What? There are SO MANY legitimate critiques of Palin that something like this just seems gratuitous and silly. Maybe it’s funny and I just don’t get it.

    • wygit

Agree… To me, this is the kind of thing that dilutes the legitimate criticism, of which there’s no shortage.

It just gives her supporters something to point at and rant “See? They’re all just haters!”

Of course, I feel the same way about the hoopla about her using the phrase, “blood libel”, when there were so many other things in that speech to slam her for, like the “Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them.” quote, to which I want to add, “unless you’re Muslim.”

  • alllie

She can’t even put on her lipstick right, can’t keep it just on her lips. And she can’t be trying to make her lips look bigger because 1) they are plenty big already and 2) the pale shade she uses doesn’t make them look bigger.

So she just can’t even put on lipstick properly.

    • Antinous / Moderator

I was thinking exactly the same thing. In gay parlance that phenomenon is called ‘Joan Crawford Ate Here’. I guess that it’s not much of a stretch to imagine that professional make-up artists might be engaging in a bit of subtle sabotage.

      • Anonymous

also, i am sure that she is wasting at least two percent approval ratings by not wearing contact lenses.

great video. the beeping is brilliant.

        .~.

        • fc

What strength are these glasses anyway? I couldn’t make out any effect, might as well have been fakes…

  • Anonymous

    that was so hot. What?

  • gothicgeek

    So ……..

    Moist!

    Shudder!

You know when you burp, and a little bit of sick comes up?

    ……

  • Rayonic

Wow. I’m going to agree with the obsession comments above.

Also, I’m reasonably sure everybody’s breathing sounds like that in conversation. We just mentally filter it out (plus it’s not quite as loud without a microphone.)

  • Anonymous

Good…she’s the breathing thing down pat. Now she can move on to cognitive thought.

  • millie fink

Whew, think I need a shower!

The action gets even hotter if you watch it at YouTube while holding down your 4 key.

  • Anonymous

    Mouth breather?

  • chgoliz

This isolated one of the reasons I can’t stand to watch her speak, but I never could figure out what it was.

It’s like she’s pretending to pause for effect, or to make it seem like she’s thinking before she speaks, but she isn’t, really…it’s really just exasperation, that she has to speak to the freaks and geeks who are sooooo below her in the hierarchy of her imagination.

  • Anonymous

    Lip smackin’ good.

  • aislingkelliher

Reminds me of some of David Tinapple’s work, especially Palin Biden silences.

  • lava

    Lip smacking. That is all.

  • Avram / Moderator

I was surprised to see how often she does that tight-lipped grimace of exasperation.

    • Sagodjur

Yeah, I’ve been watching too many episodes of Lie To Me also.

  • Grrrrrrrr8

    BB posts fetish videos now?

  • timquinn

    In answer to the “oh, come on.” complainers;

This reveals a lot about her and the talk. You can clearly see she is closely coached. Yet the grimace never conveys what they would like it to. there is no there there. She still has that deer in the headlights look in her eyes.

Ridicule is a very legitimate response to someone like Sarah Palin.

    Elvira does a decent impersonation:

  • Sekino

Air coming out of SP’s mouth? Noooo really?

  • Anonymous

Well someone had to remove all the bullshit from her speech.

All it leaves is a bunch of ‘I’m about to deliver some patronizing down-home bullshit’ breathing.

  • jdixon

    Kind of hot.

  • Anonymous

I’ll have what she is having!!

  • ToddBradley

I guess I don’t see what the big deal is. You could make anyone sound like this. Clue: anyone who speaks must also breathe. To not have these breath sounds would make her speech sound unnatural.

    • mdh

Turn the sound off, watch again. Still very telling. Watch the eyebrows, the upper lip. the angle she holds her head. Independant of what she said or how she breathed, she emotes a self-important scoldy sort of vibe in between the words of this particular fireside chat.

  • Bevatron Repairman

While I’m a Republican, I’m not a fan of Sarah Palin and yet I’m amazed (and occasionally delighted) by how the left and even the center-left lets this woman swallow news cycles whole. While most pundits on the right were praising the President for doing a *damned* fine job with his speech in Tuscon, the media and the leftish punditry couldn’t say a thing about the broader support for the President’s speech in the wake of Tuscon without footnoting Sarah Palin. Incredible.

    • Jake0748

      B.R.,
Seriously now, I think Sarah Palin is some kind of test. She has some stature since she was, after all, on the national ticket, a heartbeat away from the presidency, as they say.
So its really not incredible that the “news” follows her.

I think people are just waiting to see if she does garner enough support in the next few months to become an actual political force. Its interesting… and fun.
